My opinion is that the i915 module is broken, as blacklisting it
restored my system to a usable state.
I was having freezes related to i915 even though I wasn't using the
built-in intel GPU.
The same on the Geforce Go 6100 (Asus A6M laptop). But only on Unity 3D.
Unity 2D work fine.
