I think this bug might be a duplicate of bug 980298, which is about
nvidia 295.40 causing compiz to crash (i.e. no Unity).
And performance issues with nvidia 295.40 are being tracked in bug
982710.

Can somebody explain me how to revert to 295.33 (patched or not) and where I
can download this driver?
Ubuntu 11.04 non-unity desktop (gnome 2.x + compiz) has the same issue.
Vrrry slow screen refresh. It is looks like vblank works for every display

Does anyone know what the current driver was that was installed by
default with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Beta 2 prior to the patch that installed

this problem, and it worked great in all respects

Seeing the same issue with a GeForce Go 6150 in an HP Pavilion tx2000.
It's worth noting that the problem isn't specific to Unity. Pretty much
anything 3D runs dog slow if it doesn't freeze or crash outright.
glxgears on my system gives a depressing 5fps.
Like others, reverting to 295.33 fixed
According to this thread
(http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=2547028), running a
patched version of 295.33 (with the security fix, but without unrelated
changes) should resolve the performance issues.

There seems to be 2 different situations in current reports and latest
posts at forums:
1) Very slow GL performance. Unity 3D session varies from barely usable

simply stalls). No crash of Compiz / Unity Plugin. The Unity 2D

As an experiment, try reverting the security patch here:

You should be able to do this without reinstalling the whole driver by
manually reverting the patch
I am running 3 machines (desktops) with NVidias: : GT9500 and GT9600

Effenberg, I think you're experiencing a different set of problems than
the original reporters, who have a regression in 295.40 compared to

@Daniel
I have tried many configurations, from a single monitor (19) to 3
monitors (including large LCDs - 22, 40, 42, and different
resolutions), and haven't noticed any difference any improvement or
change, for good or bad, in performance. Performance used to be blazing

I'm using amd64 install, with nvidia geforce 6150 SE integrated, NVIDIA-
Linux-x86_64-295.20.run driver.
My problem is the focus. It takes several seconds for the focus to
appear or disappear. It may be related to this report.
