Hi everyone, most probably the acpi package is causing this issue. I was

I'm a bit surprised to hear that disabling Tear Free solves the issue.
I've tried that in the past, in combination with vsync, and today again,
but to no avail.
I'm using GNOME Shell, are you perhaps using Unity?

Yes I am using Unity. Not sure if you disabled Tear Free in normal or
admin mode? I had to disable it in admin mode and set the vsync setting
to On, unless application specifies also in admin mode for this
workaround to take effect.

I have seen this issue on various intel integrated video chips.
The issue seemed to be caused by the KVM switch at first, but it did not return
to a proper resolution when it was removed from it.
I found a workaround here:

Is anyone else having this bug on a desktop PC?
I was able to work around it by blacklisting i915 and using only my add-

If you have a destkop pc, and an add-on gpu (brand should be irrelevant)
could you try this?
I think the problem is in the i915 driver, but we need
There are several possible duplicates of this bug against different
packages, drivers, and hardware.
My opinion is that the i915 module is broken, as blacklisting it
restored my system to a usable state.
I was having freezes related to i915 even though I wasn't using the
built-in intel GPU.
