I used Notepad (on a Windows machine).
It's definitely pure ASCII.
I did wonder if the CR/LF style of newline might be the issue, so I

That field would be used if you had a board with hardware audio input.
Bluetooth being all software is handled differently.
You can try to switch modes to "player" and just stream from your phone
to that pCP device. That will verify if your phone connection is
working.
