Have I accidentally switched the output from stereo to mono? If I have,
any ideas how to switch it back?
With the working Pi3 the amixer gives this report:
Simple mixer control 'PCM',0
Capabilities: pvolume pswitch

While I was poking about last night I stumbled upon and checked the
setting. It was and is set to both channels. After dinner I might try
changing the output setting to the left & right
Thanks Ronnie. That worked perfectly. The Pi3 you've fixed is in my
workshop. After switching it on every morning I'd have to go back to the
house & home office to boot up the PC to adjust the volume. After a few
weeks it was beginning to get a little irritating. Especially with the

No, all I've done is use putty to increase the volume using the
graphical thing. I wouldn't trust myself to tweak it manually.
While I'm on the subject. Every time I restart the Pi3 the output level
is reset from 100

I can't see any left or right controls - see image below. Also, I've
just borrowed another pair of these speakers and with this new test the

I have a Pi3, Pi2 and Pi1. I have the same PiCore setup on all three.
Whilst the Pi3 + PiCore + USB audio works 100%, with the Pi2 and Pi1 the
USB audio is missing from the right speaker.
I've swapped the same set of speakers back and forth between the three
boards. Works every time with the

Could anyone help me with a USB audio problem?
On previous advice I've boosted the alsamixer to 100% to sort out a low
volume issue. However, after updating to 5.0.0 I now only have sound
through one of the two speakers.
I've tested the speakers with my PC and they are fine. Both speakers /
I was wondering if PiCorePlayer could support a choice of servers. And
if it might be possible to add 'Booksonic'
(https://github.com/popeen/Popeens-DSub) as an option.
Hope this isn't too daft an idea.

Solved! Pumping up the alsamixer made the difference. Thanks to everyone
for the help.

I have a pair of 'Palo Alto Cubik speakers'
(http://www.paloaltoaudio.com/cubik/) with an internal DAC. These active
speakers would be a great fit for my workshop hi-fi but I just can't get
them to work with PiCorePlayer.
The now defunct Palo Alto didn't provide any information about the DAC
