Hi Kids. No doubt that I've been and will be confused - there is a lot
of confusing information out there on these topics, and much of the
information is not laid out in a way that is easy for non-pros to digest
(sort of why the field of tech writers exist). Look at this particular

You seem to be a bit confused, and you're confusing everyone here. :)

Mine came with 2 USB cables, one data, one DC power.

That is a really old problem. And it was more serious than making the

OK, found this elsewhere:
"This is a known issue. RPi4 4G and likely 8G models have a bug that

I only did an earlier version of pCP to prove pCP had been working for
years.

Absolutely NO settings changed. E30 was recognised.

You have something going on here, not sure if it hardware. Have you
made any manual changes to config.txt?
I would start with a new image. Unplug everything from the rpi, except
the network cable, and boot it. Once booted, connect the topping E30
to a USB2.0 port. What shows up in dmesg? Do

The touchscreen is official Raspberry 7" - it's still attached in a

I have been using my E30 (in DAC mode) for over a year. Tried 4 or 5
Raspberry Pi's and have rebuilt pCP dozens of times. It always worked.

As pointed out by Paul, I suspect a power supply or cable problem.

If you set the E30 to Coax or Optical input and then power up your Pi,
does the input on the E30 switch to USB? If not, the E30 is not
"seeing" anything on the USB input.

Do you have a suitable usb2 certified cable other than the one supplied

Can you confirm the usb connection works by connecting the Topping to
another computer ?

So its not even being detected at all. All of these are potential
problems. USB is automatic detection, assuming everything is working.
Here are some things to think about.
Dac Problem (Does the Dac work on any other computer)
Power Supply (and Cable)
USB Cable
USB port on the pi. (Try them

Here's my setup - see "'Add a Topping E30 USB DAC'

My E30 is set as a DAC, not Pre, and I don't have a screen. I use wifi.
