Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 5.0.0
Hi all. First time posting, please let me know if it's in the wrong place. I have three Pi3s (not Bs), with identical SD cards, and am having this same issue on all of them: I can make a fresh install of PCP5.0, and update to 5.0.1 without an issue. I can reboot from the web GUI also without a problem (so far). But if the power is pulled from the PI itself (or there is a power cut) then 8 times out of 10 the boot process fails and the Linux partition isn't mounted, instead the Pi boots into a command line "> tc@piCorePlayer" and that's it, PCP is dead and I have to rewrite the img to the SD and set everything up again. I thought that PCP ran from RAM and so any unexpected power cut shouldn't affect the card at all and it should just reboot happily every time? These Pis are players only, they don't run LMS or any extensions etc. Literally the barest of installs. Has anyone else had this issue, or have some advice (I'm a Windows user)? Thanks in advance! Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] picoreplayer USBridge auto on AMP
There is not so much information about the integrated dac of the amp: https://www.primare.net/products/i15-prisma-2/ I could probably manage switch on by rpi's gpio to rs232 input of the amp. But would be nice if it's working just over USB like with other OS. For me there is no alternative to pcp. I've ask also producer of the Amp maybe they can give a hint what to check. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] picoreplayer USBridge auto on AMP
How about the auto-sense setting ... try setting it to WAKE+SELECT ... with STANDBY set to NORMAL "AUTO SENSE Choose between: SELECT to automatically select an input containing an audio signal if the I15 is on; WAKE+SELECT to automatically wake up the I15 from standby, if necessary, and select an input containing an audio signal; and OFF (default) to disable automatic switching." "STANDBY MODE can be set to ECO to reduce the standby consumption to less than 0.5W, but only allows the I15 to wake from the analogue and digital inputs, or NORMAL which also allows the I15 to wake from streaming and the PC/MAC input." Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 5.0.0
Hi pcp team Im running LMS on picoreplayer on a Pi3B with all my music files on my NAS. I have used the option to move the slimserver files onto the NAS, which works fine most of the time. Occasionally, first thing in the morning, LMS seems to lock up - the pcp home page responds OK , saying LMS is running. pcp:9000 displays an outline LMS home page but with no content on either the left or right hand pane. I suspect that the NAS drive has gone to sleep overnight and LMS cant cope with this. I cant see any problem reported in the logs though. A restart of LMS fixes the issue. Whats the best place for these slimserver files? SD card - does LMS do many writes and potentially wear the card out? NAS - as Im using at the moment USB stick - or does this suffer the same as the SD card Also, in the past, with LMS running on a linux box, I always had problems after a power cut (we get lots of these where I live). LMS started before the NAS and the music files were not available. Once the NAS was up, I had to "sudo mount -a" to get it running. Am I likely to have problems like this with LMS on picoreplayer too? Many thanks for this great project Cheers Nigel NigelC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2101 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110642 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 5.0.0
Hi, I have been using PCP for about 4 years now and I think this is a marvelous piece of work. Thanks I use PCP in my remote speakers which about 2 years ago I modified to include a Z Wave switch so I could control them as part of my home automation I have 4 speakers set like this all slaved to an LMS with it's own (ficticious) player. the player on the server is just there to keep the server playing 24/7 The speakers drop in and out of the syncronised group and I have music from a repeating playlist within a minute of any player being switched on. Works like a charm ! Because it worked so well I thought I'd swap my Max2Play LMS installation for a PCP version of the same. Installation went well and the players synched okay ... except ... Whenever a speaker (a PCP node previously identifird and sync'd to the LMS, and server saved with this sync) joins the group, ALL the players on the server pause. I've had to go back to the Max2Play server. Any ideas if I have missed a setting or if there are any known differences in the installation of 7.9 nightly ?
