I've installed Squeezecenter on a fresh Ubuntu install.
There are two problems i am struggling with resolving:
1)
During installation i got an error saying it could not create
/etc/squeezecenter/ but on looking there I find the folder. So I didn't
really take notice of the rest of the error.

Sorry, I was talking Fishbone rather than the default skin.
From your first screen below select Home at the top left. Open up

I just upgraded from stable (7.0) to testing (7.0.1-18702) on my
Ubuntu/Gutsy (7.10) server and did not have these issues.
There is also the unstable version 7.1-18719 available. What new
features or bug fixes would this bring ?

You should not run the ifconfig command for what you're trying to do.
It does not save the settings. You should use the System

Thanks Steve - it all makes sense now, it was staring me in the face!
I think my 'problem' was that I had been expecting to see a list of

going to happen.
Anyway - much appreciated, thanks.

Just uninstalled firestarter and suddenly i'm able to connect to the
machine. Guess that was where the problem was.
But how do i connect to the SqueezeNetwork? The reason i had
firestarter was that i could then share internet between eth1 and eth0.
Is there some way to do this manually? Or

Are you running the Stable, Testing, or unstable branch?
As the bugs Mark pointed out there have been problems with AppArmor.
The latest testing and unstable versions (From Thursday night on) have
a script to fix the issue at the end of the install process.

Did you compile both Perl and MySQL with gcc? This looks similar to a
problem I had but to be honest, I had a LOT of issues sorting out
SqueezeCenter on Solaris so things have become a bit of a blur.
Check the makefile for the DBD::mysql module. If it refers to
