firmware-rtlwifi.tcz has been updated on our repo.

Run.

pcp-update firmware-rtlwifi.tcz

Then reboot. Note that pCP will use wlan0, so whatever wifi is detected
as wlan0 will get used.

An aborted download is a potential cause. As the MD5 is only checked
after a completed download. However there are things that can happen
that leave remnants after a failed download.

Anyway, glad its working.

[SlimDevices: Unix] Flirc USB infrared remote dongle and piCorePlayer

2021-08-05 Thread AndyTwizzle

I've bought a Flirc USB dongle I've setup to control my piCorePlayers
using the original remote controls that came with the Logitech
Squeezebox Touch and also the little 13-button remote that came with the
Squeezebox Radio accessory pack.

The dongle works perfectly on my piCorePlayer with touchscreen in a
case, but when moving the dongle to another piCorePlayer in the
Raspberry Pi 4 Flirc case (no touchscreen, but using same Logitech
Squeezebox remote), it doesn't work. I assume the Flirc USB IR interacts
directly with Jivelite as opposed to Squeezelite or piCorePlayer itself,
so have Jivelite is installed and auto-starting, even though I can't see
it as it has no screen. I appreciate I can't see the menus for
track/playlist selection, etc., but assumed play/pause, volume and power
would at least work.

Can anyone advise on a solution to get the remote doing basic functions
without a viewable screen?

Thanks

I'm sure the problem here is that you are syncing. I would look at
using the "groups" plugin, as it handles dynamic creation of sync
groups better.

Syncing two bluetooth devices will be problematic, but should work if
you make sure the master in the sync pair is always connected first.

The scripts are for RPiOS and also for X. pCP/jivelite only works with
framebuffers. Not an automatic install. It will take some messing

However if you read the script

if you copy the overlay (line 12 of the script) except the location
is /mnt/mmcblkop1/overlays.(You will need to mount the boot
partition first)

Then make the config edits. Line 21-29

All of the drivers appear to be standard (Make sure you have installed

Then you should be able to configure jivelite like all of the waveshare

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 8.0.0 - Bluetooth Discussion

2021-08-05 Thread AndyTwizzle

Been testing Bluetooth connections to my pCP on Raspberry Pi 4B to
Sennheiser HD4.40 BT headphones and Wonderboom 2. Have two
observations/questions:

- I'm able to connect to both from pCP web interface and they stream
reliably. However, on restarting/booting I need to go to LMS and
select them as the player each time and reconnect in pCP - it seems
pCP and/or LMS don't remember the last used "player" (i.e. my
Bluetooth speaker or headphones). Hoping to use my pCP on the move
without Wi-Fi using USB hard disc library, but getting it up and
running on power on each time requires me to connect from phone to Pi,
connect to Bluetooth device, then select it as the "player" in LMS -
takes a good minute or two to get the music up and running. Any
  solution to this?
- I had piCorePlayer, Bluetooth headphones and Bluetooth speaker al
synchronised to play the same music - setup in LMS on the Pi. Every
time I reboot or shutdown, these synchronisation settings are lost,
and I have to set them up again, which gets quite confusion. Any
  suggestions to resolve?

Thanks

Andy

[SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer with Raspberry Pi 4 Metal Case with 3.5" TFT Touchscreen (480x320)

2021-08-05 Thread AndyTwizzle

I use a Flirc case with piCorePlayer installed on a RP4 with a USB Hard
Disc to take my whole music library on holiday to use where I have no
Wi-Fi. I set the Pi as a WAP so I can connect to it from my Phone, but
am interested in getting this case with a built-in 3.5" touchscreen to
control the player with Jivelite: 'Raspberry Pi 4 Metal Case with 3.5\"
TFT Touchscreen (480x320)'

If you click 'View More' you'll see instructions on how to download
scripts to enable the touchscreen. I'm fairly new to Raspberry Pi OS
and piCorePlayer, but assume these instructions are for Raspberry Pi.

So my question is, is there a way to download and run these scripts
directly in piCorePlayer to enable the touchscreen on the case- or is
the pCP OS too locked down to enable this?

Thanks

Actually it looks like that card may be handled now with an in tree
driver, you may just need to get the firmware file.

Can you test something.

1) Disable the RPi internal wifi
2) Remove your USB wifi
3) Reboot
4) Download the firmware file
(https://anduin.linuxfromscratch.org/sources/linux-firmware/rtlwifi/rtl8192eu_nic.bin)
and put it in /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/
5) Insert your USB wifi
6) Check dmesg to see if the card was fully recognized and the firmware
was loaded.

Thank you for the quick response! Appreciate.

I'm using 32 bit version pCP ("standard" build was recommended in the
instructions). I did not have pCP7 on the Pi, I started with pCP8 as
fresh install.

I tried to delete the Perl extensions (Main page, Extensions, Installed,
Delete). The response was that the crypt modules cannot be deleted, the
io_socket_ssl will be deleted after reboot.
After the reboot the io_socket_ssl is still shown as installed.

Weird indeed, and I have the annoying feeling that probably I did sg
very stupid...

Hi,

It seems I ran into the same problem. It is a fresh install of
piCorePlayer v8.0.0 on RPi 4, LMS 8.1.1.

Spotty and Paradise plugins complain: "Spotty requires the Perl module
IO::Socket::SSL. You can NOT use Spotty without this module. Please use
your operating system's package manager to install it."

Info panel is like: IO::Socket::SSL: Nothing

Thanks, Bandi
