Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Bluetooth Speaker on PiCorePlayer
Hi guys, I just wanted to clear up some confusion about our premium model and the Bluetooth addon. Firstly, our free images do not just offer preinstalled Squeezelite (and Shairport) players. Free features also include the installer for the Squeezebox Server, Kodi preinstalled and Filesystem Mount including SambaSahre support. The premium license then allows you to install and configure all the additional plugins and addons we made for the OS over time including, of course, updates and patches. It also guarantees direct technical support over our forums with primary support for premium users, whose posts are highlighted by "premium" banner. What should also be mentioned, is that we do not take away any of the configurations you have made during your status of premium user. We just do not allow for newer updates of the premium features, once your license has run out. Aside from that, the Raspberry Pi 3 already has Bluetooth built-in. So, if you use M2P on the RPi3, you can use BT speakers without a dongle for an additional Squeezelite player from the first start. Reading this i do not know why i didn't think about using phone. Just have to make sure i keep the battery charged as it doesn't last long anymore. Although i have a portable battery pack. Sound wise i find the latest Bluetooth version perfectly adequate and half decent range as long as walls are not involved. Apesbrain wrote: > If only; it's actually 10 -a year!- (Or 30/5 years.) Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Bluetooth Speaker on PiCorePlayer
I'd be interested in being able to SEND Bluetooth to my PiCorePlayer. I have a "fixed" PiCorePlayer in my garage, with built-in HiFiBerry Amp+ and speakers. There are times when it would be convenient to be able to use that setup to play content from my phone (Android). Has anyone looked at an "auxiliary" input to PiCorePlayer (bluetooth, or even wired)? tcutting's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17402 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105834 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Well it is Ronnie. It's like AM compared to FM. I know most can't hear a difference between 320 Kbps MP3 and FLAC but there is a clearly audible difference between BT and a 320 Kbps MP3 streamed wirelessly. The Chromecast is much better quality than BT although nowhere near as good as a native SB or a Pi derivative. Well, the cheapest option is max2play plus licence plus cheap BT dongle. I still think the limiting factor is likely to be the BT reach (which in my experience is about 4 m max without intervening walls, etc.). The wifi reach on bluetooth is very limited. If you really want pi to bluetooth then install max2play which enables bluetooth speakers, but you'll also need a bluetooth adapter for the pi. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Bluetooth Speaker on PiCorePlayer
I don't think that would work. If you have an iOS thingy then iPeng can act as a Squeezebox Player and willsend audio by Bluetooth or AirPlay. I expect the same exists for Android users in some form. Or if the speaker had aux in and is within wifi range get a Chromecast Audio and use Phillipe's excellent Castbridge plugin. It turns the Chromecast into a Squeezebox player. This is about £35 here in UK. *Vortexbox LMS 7.9 music on QNAP TS419p via NFS* iThingys/iPeng/Tablets *Living Room* - SB3 -> Onkyo TS606 - > Celestion Ditton F20s - Zone 2 -> Sony TA FE 320 -> Sennheiser RS 130 & B P7 *Office* - RPi -> Sony TA FE320 -> Celestion F10s / SB3 -> Onkyo CRN 755 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes *Dining Room* -> SB Boom *Kitchen* -> UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio) *Bedroom (Bedside)* - SB Touch -> Topping TP21 -> AKG Headphones *Bedroom (TV)* - Amazon Fire TV (SB Player) -> Topping TP20 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105834 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
