It is not a problem of the WIFI signal to have bad quality. It is only
that piCorePlayer is not getting an IP address via DHCP. The connection
quality itself is good!

I have a Mac and my iTunes library resides on a HFS+ volume. I am

It is 5m away from a Mesh-repeater, so I switched first yesterday to

A hfsplus drive is mounted read-only on the Pi if you are not doing
something else (described in my linked message).
So you can not write to it, although you maybe have write permissons!
