I think that Oracle Media Objects was based on the Plus code, which also had
its own life as a Windows only tool. I programmed a 12 CD-ROM series in OMO,
though we didn’t get around doing the last two. You can still buy those
CD-ROMs, but I think thy wouldn’t work on a modern OS:

2017-06-13 Thread Richmond Mathewson via use-livecode
The most important thing is your message is "I remember teaching myself"
. . .

LiveCode should be banging on about this endlessly; I am trying to teach
myself C#

and getting thoroughly bogged down.

I am also gently teaching myself HyperNext, and because that is
Object-based like Hypercard
and LiveCode it is pretty painless. HyperNext is an effort put together
by one person, and as such
is both amazing as a one-person job and considerably inferior to
LiveCode for the same reason.

Admittedly I did teach myself PASCAL in 1984 (mainly because I really
couldn't even begin to
understand what the lecturers in the Maths department were talking
about): but, having got through that

when I "found" Hypercard (1993) the whole thing was far less painful.

LiveCode is quite modular (if one thinks of controls as modules) and as
such one can
build up from simples to very complicated stuff (c.f. LEGO) relatively
easily and quickly.

Richmond.

At times, I wonder about what would happened if I asked SuperCard for an
upgrade . . . to my version 1.5 disks . . .

And if SuperCard had leaked that the PC version was coming, I wouldn't have
abandoned my project 25 years ago, and would probably be the largest player
in bankruptcy software today . . .

No, turnover is not worrisome; in fact the odd spot of fresh blood
is often a good thing.

I just felt "funny" discovering things like this through other channels.

My plans are modest, but focused on LiveCode 100% . . .

and am amzed that LiveCode has both survived and got stronger
when one compares it with all the also-rans which have gone to the wall.

HC, which was lost in the shuffle of corporate (and general) indifference.
That fear lingers through the inexplicable incapability of the population
