Hi Marty,

There are a bunch of other programs that have a lot of the same features as
photoshop.

Graphic Converter 11
GIMP
InkScape
GravitDesigner

Even Apple’s Photos program has come a long way.

Good luck!

Yes, a very capable app for about $50 US. Different workflow than PS but
well thought out. Their documentation and learning materials are well
thought out. MAC AND PC, and a beautiful UI.

Re: iOS 15 - Xcode version

2021-09-24 Thread Marty Knapp via use-livecode
Just a follow up here. I installed Big Sur on a separate volume and then
downloaded the latest version of Xcode - 13.0. That doesn’t work. So I went
into my Apple Developer account to get Xcode 12.5.1 which downloads as a .xip
file - took forever to install from that (just so you know). So start the
process and then go do something else - like a trip to the Bahamas. When you
get back it might be done. Then set that version of Xcode in the LC prefs. Now
I can build iOS apps for version 15.

But now I can no longer use Photoshop CS3! It’s probably 10 years old so it had
a good long run. Now to find a replacement as I don’t want to pay $20 a month
for that...

i had here a similar problem. My test app created with LC 9.6.4 worked until i

Pressing the icon to start it, opened the app and then it crashed back to iOS

Btw. push notifications for that app still worked.

I got it working again by creating the standalone again and then deploying it

Re: iOS 15 - Xcode version

2021-09-23 Thread Marty Knapp via use-livecode
I’ve just tried with one app, which is quite simple. It’s my customer database
which just pulls in data from a text file.

I exploring this further, it looks like I’ll need the latest version of Xcode
which requires Big Sur. So I’m just installing Big Sur on a partition and will
set things up to build on that. I will report back once I’ve had a chance to do
that.

Thanks Jacque,

well yes i think so. Totall would be under 200$ yearly together with the
Community Plus else you can't put it on the app store.

I also think the nr of iOs users would not match up to the Android users.

Members (around 2100 and decreasing due to natural causes) donate
voluntarly max 10 euro yearly to the association. The association does
also get funds from the Dutch government but that's related to reunions
and thelike. The nr of members will never increase because it's only for
them who served with that batallion.

I don't think i could get an OK for this.

Thanks anyway :)

Nothing can bypass the App Store. IOS devices will only install apps
deleviered from the store, with the single exception being developer
testers, which can accomodate up to 100 verified devices whose UUIDs
are embedded into the development certificate.

Apple does offer an Enterprise account that allows a company to host
the app on their own servers, but it is much more expensive and last I
heard, only accomodates up to 500 devices. That number may have
changed since I last checked, but if $100 is out of range then
Enterprise certainly would be unaffordable.

Nothing can bypass the App Store. IOS devices will only install apps
deleviered from the store, with the single exception being developer
testers, which can accomodate up to 100 verified devices whose UUIDs are
embedded into the development certificate.

Apple does offer an Enterprise account that allows a company to host the
app on their own servers, but it is much more expensive and last I
heard, only accomodates up to 500 devices. That number may have changed
since I last checked, but if $100 is out of range then Enterprise
certainly would be unaffordable.

Re: .app to .ipa converter and Xcode version for Mojave?

2018-12-10 Thread JJS via use-livecode

Hi Sannyasin,

thanks for your well put explanation.

I thought that it would be like this.

We'll stick at Android for the Assocation then, a one time fee of 25$ is
perfect for a free app.

So to pay 100$ each year for a free app and also for the LC Community
Plus edition is too much for the nr of users who would use it, since the
app is only accessible via a password.

I don't have a paid dev account yet. I can only play with Xcode and the
iOs emulator.

I can create provisioning profiles within Xcode.

If i make enough money and would have the indy and paid dev account i
would put it on for free for them. But until then, it will be Android only.

I hoped the ipa builder would provide something to get it on their
devices without the iOs store.

Thanks anyway!

Jerry

Get ready for the nightmare to come.

You will need:

1) We assume that you have a developer license. $103.95 cents year.

Apples doesn’t care about your Veterans Association budget. They are intent on
being the richest company to world. Greed incarnate.

2) You need to install an SSL security certificate on you Mac.
Keychain Access.app, via the developer portal (it gives you instructions)

3) now you can assign 100 devices for one year by giving the portal the UUIC
for each device. I have a memo describing how to get that from users, if want
that, send me email off list.

4) next you create a provisioning profile. It is tied to security certificate
that is registered at the portal/on you mac. And it has the number of devices
that you want to use for testing (you can pick them from the portal)

5) You download the provisioning profile ... it will be automatically installed

/Users/*user*/Library/MobileDevice/Provisioning
Profiles/124312341234.mobileprovision

6) Now you can choose the profile in the Standalone Builder!

7) *now* you can make the IPA. Yay! Put it on a web server and those devices
which are registered with the profile, can open it

It most complicated than that. I would help you off list.

But you need to be an official Apple developer first.

 Hi,

can i put this ipa on any iOs mobile corresponding to the set iOs version?

Or do i need to have some code from the phone and register it somewhere

 at apple?

I know that via apple you can distribute up to 100 phones or something.

But for an non-profit veterans association this is not affordable.

 Thanks for any explanation.

2017-05-03 Thread Ralph DiMola via use-livecode
I can deploy to 9.3.5 and 10.3.1 using

MacBook OSX 10.11.6
LC 8.1.4 rc1
Xcode 8.2.1

I do get a warning in the "Devices" window for the 10.3.1 devices but I can
still install/delete/run apps.

To have simulators from 6 thru 10 in the LC prefs using these versions of Xcode.

8.2.1 ==> v10.2 Simulator/SDK
7.1.2 ==> v9.2 Simulator/SDK
6.2   ==> v8.2 Simulator/SDK
5.1.1 ==> v7.1 Simulator/SDK
4.6.3 ==> v6.1 Simulator/SDK

That being said
Xcode 8.3.2 requirements:
1) OSX 10.12 (look like I'm upgrading soon...)
2) New version of LiveCode with Xcode 8.3.2 support.

Thanks for the response.
Just checked. It did not install. There is a version that I made with before my
upgrade to iOS 10.3.1 and it still works. But, the new version didn’t install
over it.

2017-05-03 Thread Paul Hibbert via use-livecode
I’ve seen this warning in Xcode when connecting my iPhone 5s after updating it,
but copying my LC app on to the phone still works and the app runs OK, just
can’t use the simulator.

Anyway, just try it, preferably without overwriting any currently working app,
and it should be fine.

Re: xCode ??? version

2017-05-03 Thread panagiotis merakos via use-livecode
Hi Bill,

Several issues mentioned here:

>I see, from the release notes that the highest iOS version supported
is 10.2.

1) This may not be very clear, but what this means is that the highest
version of *iOS SDK* which you can use **to build** the iOS standalone is
10.2. This is different from the iOS deployment target, which can be
specified in the standalone settings for iOS (e.g. "10.0 or later").
This means that any app you build will run on devices with future iOS
versions.

2) LiveCode 8.1.4 RC2 will support Xcode 8.3.x, e.g it will support
**building** with iOS 10.3 SDK (which is included in Xcode 8.3.x)

3) Back to the original error message (“Could not locate device support
files. The iPhone 6 is running iOS 10.3.1, which may not be supported by
this version of Xcode.”), I think I have seen that in the past when trying
to install the app into a device. I am not 100% sure (I cannot remember)
but I think the app was installed, regardless of this error. Could you
please double-check?

Best,
Panos

Re: xCode ??? version

2017-05-03 Thread William Prothero via use-livecode
When I load the app into the Simulator, with xCode 8.2.1, then go to the menu
“Hardware/Manage Devices” menu, I get the message that says:
“Could not locate device support files. The iPhone 6 is running iOS 10.3.1,
which may not be supported by this version of Xcode.”

So, it looks to me like Livecode 8.1.4(rc1) does not support iOS 10.3.1, the
latest version.

Does this seem reasonable.
Xcode versions 8.3 is not supported by the latest livecode releases.
Can I hope that this will be fixed soon?

Bill the Release Notes are a good place to check such issues. The following is

iOS deployment is possible when running LiveCode IDE on a Mac, and provided

LiveCode 8.1.4-rc-1 Release Notes 4/4/17

Currently, the supported versions of Xcode are:

Xcode 4.6 on MacOS X 10.7
Xcode 5.1 on MacOS X 10.8
Xcode 6.2 on MacOS X 10.9
Xcode 6.2 and 7.2 on Mac OS X 10.10 Xcode 8.2 on MacOS X 10.11

Xcode 8.2 on MacOS 10.12

It is also possible to set other versions of Xcode, to allow testing on a wider
range of iOS simulators. For instance, on OS X 10.10 (Yosemite), you can add
Xcode 5.1 in the Mobile Support preferences, to let you test your stack on the
iOS Simulator 7.1.

We currently support deployment for the following versions of iOS:

xCode ??? version

I have iOS 10.3.1, and OSX 10.12.4
LC 9.0.0 (dp6) and LC 8.1.4 (RC1).

These two latest versions of LiveCode don’t seem to support XCode 8.3 which is
required for iOS 10.3.1, I can’t get my app onto my iPhone now.

Hopefully a new version that will support the latest iOS will come soon.

iOS
iOS deployment is possible when running LiveCode IDE on a Mac, and provided
Xcode is installed and has been set in LiveCode Preferences (in the Mobile
Support pane).

Currently, the supported versions of Xcode are:

Xcode 4.6 on MacOS X 10.7
Xcode 5.1 on MacOS X 10.8
Xcode 6.2 on MacOS X 10.9
Xcode 6.2 and 7.2 on Mac OS X 10.10

Xcode 8.2 on MacOS 10.12
It is also possible to set other versions of Xcode, to allow testing on a wider
range of iOS simulators. For instance, on OS X 10.10 (Yosemite), you can add
Xcode 5.1 in the Mobile Support preferences, to let you test your stack on the
iOS Simulator 7.1.

We currently support deployment for the following versions of iOS:

6.1 [simulator]
7.1 [simulator]
8.2 [simulator]
9.2
10.2

Thanks

I tried to kick myself, but knees are a little stiff: (smile)

Repeat after me 20 times:

“read the release notes, read the release notes, read the release notes….”

OK I got it now

Xcode 7.3 it is.

8.0.0 RC1 - Which Xcode Version?

2016-04-13 Thread Sannyasin Brahmanathaswami
In dp 16… I had to turn off the auto updates in the App store, deleted the
latest version of Xcode, and installed Xcode 7.2.1 after that the mobile
provisioning in dp16 prefs was “green for go” with the SDK 9.2

After loading RC1…it is “red for no go” What version should we download now?
Since the recent lightening storm fried some routers my connection bandwidth
dropped here in our office… I only want to fetch Xcode once and get the right
version.

Re: LC 8 dp 16 does recognize Xcode Version 7.3 (7D175)?

2016-03-26 Thread Sannyasin Brahmanathaswami
@ Panos OK, downloading 7.2.1 now... I should pay more attention to the
release notes, as they clearly state the xCode version that is supported.

@ Henry... Yep... I have Time machine back ups... more a problem of HD space...
rather not keep multiple versions of xCode. App Store Prefs... sheesh.. I would
not have thought to look there.

"Download Updates in the background" OK, thanks.. found it and turned it off..

Now i can delete 7.3 and just keep the latest version of xCode that works with
LC (I don't need xCode for anything else)

Mahalo!

To prevent automatic updates in the future open System Preferences on your
Mac and go to the "App Store" panel. Turn off "Install app updates"

2016-03-26 Thread panagiotis merakos
You can have more than one version of Xcode installed in your machine. You
can find any version of Xcode on the Apple's downloads page.

Or use this link from Stack Overflow to get directly the .dmg from Apple
(requires Apple ID to login):

We had a medium-sized lightning storm 7-1/2 weeks ago - fried the phone
cables behind the house, brought down the power lines onto the garden
shed, etc.

They got the power up the same day, the second phone line after 3 weeks
- and my main phone (and internet) connection is still down :-)
I am so glad I had a second phone line put in, back in the days of 56k
modems.

So my "4Mb on a good day" connection makes me look at your 100Mb
connection with envy :-)

LC 8 dp 16 does recognize Xcode Version 7.3 (7D175)?

2016-03-25 Thread Sannyasin Brahmanathaswami
As we know Apple loves to update XCode automatically. I don't see an option to
turn this off in xCode prefs on my mac.

So... woke up today with xCode modification date yesterday and now LC 8 dp 16
Mobile prefs won't accept it. Red square asking for valid SDK from 6.1 up to
9.2.

There is the option to install the iOS 9.2 Simulator... but I don't think that
is the same as the SDK... trying to download now...

Any advice? working on a prototype and need to test on iPhone and iPad
