Replicating your steps, I get a copy of Sheet2 at position #1 and any relative reference to the previous sheet needs to raise a #REF! error because you told me to reference a cell on the previous sheet. Having sheets named Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3 etc. any reference from Sheet2 to Sheet1 or from Sheet3 to Sheet2 refers to the _previous_ sheet.
