5.2.5 if i remember correctly.

you can test previous versions and tell the first version that you
observed the problem on it.

I got a .pptx file today that I downloaded and made some slight
modifications to.
The original download size was 4.8MB.
After modifications using Impress, the size blossomed to 24.9MB.
I loaded it into MS PP nad saved it, and it shrank back down to 6.4MB.
