Inserting special characters for Español [Spanish] and Français

has the needed characters when viewed with the Insert Special Character

As a newcomer I am trying out LibreOffice 4.1.4.2 and is quite satisfied
with most of its features, especially the experimental sidebar panel.
However, several issues occurred when I was playing around with Unicode

Thank's for your advice folks.
Brian's analysis is spot on I think.

I guess I was expecting just the cells I highlit to be deleted,
Hi,
I am testing LibreOffice to replace MS Office 2003. So I created 4 xlsx
files with LibreOffice Calc 4.1.4.2 and while files are open formula syntax
is working (Calc A1), and it is looking like this:

But as soon as I save it and

Bonjour,
je viens de migrer sur Libre Office et j'avais créé un glossaire sous Word

Est-ce qu'il y a un moyen de mettre ce glossaire sur Libre Office pour ne

Et comment le convertir ?
Merci de votre aide et bonne journée

In previous posts, I described how Writer adds extra index markers when
updating an Alphabetical Index. One side effect of this behavior is that,
even if an item is later removed from the concordance file, the marker
remains in the text, and therefore in the index.
So, here's how to remove all of
Hi :)
The new XlsX format is notoriously unreliable, in my opinion and as
people seem to suggest on this mailing list. Each version of MS
Office 'accidentally' introduces different variances from each other
and from the ISO standard as published.
So, if you move to another version of MS Office

Hi Neil:
You don't mention whether you are solely using LibreOffice's language
support features or whether you are also using one of the OS-wide input
method utilities that are available.
I've found that, with Linux at least, Writer sometimes helps too much by
silently substituting fonts for you
Hi list
Sorry if this has been posted before.
In looking for reference management software I came across a request
from Docear for a developer who is familiar with LibO/AOO so that
references can be formatted and exported to LibO/AOO documents:
Thanks for this work-around. I think it will also work on Mac OSX as it
includes sed in Terminal.
I will try it as soon as I get a chance.

There are plenty of snippets on the web about using soffice command line
for document conversion, for example, but I cannot find documentation.
Looking for 'soffice' in the LO help file yields no results.
Anyone have any idea?

Hi Charles,
I'm not aware of any way to merge multiple pdf files using LO. There are
others on the list more knowledgeable than I, so maybe it can be done.
There is a free, open source program that I've used to merge multiple

Hello,
If you run the following command:

An alert will pop up giving you a complete reference on how to use the
soffice on the command line.
If you get an error saying soffice is an invalid command, make sure the
current directory is LibreOfficeInstallFolder\program.
I've asked a question on this list about soffice, and this topic is the
reason I was asking.
Let's say we can use the command line to 1) convert an .odt to an .fodt
file, and 2) to convert it back again.
If so, I can write a script that uses soffice to do
1) as above
