This will sort the area of adjacent used cells. Alternatively you can select the whole range and call the Data>Sort dialog. And you can click a single cell and call the sort dialog which will select the area of adjacent used cells as well. Only one thing does not work: You must not select any part of a table because this sorts the selected part. Spreadsheets do not have any concept of tables. A table in a spreadsheet is what you treat as a table. -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Yes. You must first select all the cells you want to sort. You can easily do this by clicking the little square above the row numbers and left of the column letters. This will select the entire sheet. Next from the top heading bar at the very top select DATA then from the drop-down context menu select SORT. Then select the sort critera (in your case the columns that have the names in it. Also mark if you want the sort ascending or descending (you want ascending). If you want a secondary sort you can input the criteria also. Finally click the OK button at the bottom. Now all the SELECTED data will be sorted with the names. If you would exclude certain columns or rows from the selection they would not move with the sorting but stay where they are. -- Piet van Oostrum WWW: http://pietvanoostrum.com/ PGP key: [8DAE142BE17999C4] -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

I have a calc spreadsheet with many lines of data which include one column with names for the line. I want to sort the names from A to Z, top to bottom, and have all the corresponding data in each line move with the corresponding name. Hope this is clear. I have not seen that issue with 15.10 and LibreOffice 5.0.2[?] Of course, I tend to setup the page in LO and then I do see a problem with the printer controls in the print menu. I have the issue there where I cannot switch out Letter size[defined in the document] and Borderless Letter size, for better poster/sign printing. I tend to export to a PDF document and then use its printer menus for the needed paper. So I have not seen orientation issues, but the ability to change the paper's type within LO and Ubuntu 15.10 [with MATE installed from the repositories and not using the Ubuntu/MATE distro]. I upgraded from 15.04 on that system.

I had problems controlling orientation with 4.5.0.0alpha+ under Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite. I printed to pdf then printed the pdf ;-) That problem disappeared for me with upgrade to 5.0.0.5. Hope this helps.
