[libreoffice-users] OO Base has serious critical issues...

2011-02-05 Thread emarkay
I don't have a lot of time to rehash all the details in these old issues, but recently, I gave up again trying to use it. Since about 2006, I have tried to get Base to work as a database - simple as that - in Linux. The last time, I had to get some Java programs to get the basic HQSL to

http://en.libreofficeforum.org/forum Looks pretty recent, and they are attempting to internationalize it. I just registered there. Does anyone have other LO forums or support sites not mentioned here yet? Thanks MRK - Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Windows XP-SP3 - (1) 2.8 G/2G RAM/ATI

Andreas, Thank you for your time and comments. The world, and more specifically, The Documentation Foundation needs more people like you who are willing to take the time to constructively elaborate in issues you are both familiar with and are frustrated by. I have always said to leave the dog

[libreoffice-users] I can't believe this - Is the competition is really this bad?

2011-02-07 Thread emarkay
In doing a bit of research for a previous post, I wanted to make a comparison to MS Office and some of the issues that the Documentation Foundation should look into to strengthen LO in the field. Now, for full disclosure, I haven't used any MS program any more than when I absolutely had to (very

Wow, well maybe they should just rename this thing to LibreWrite... Seriously, I ask that those who have some authority consider the following: Since the concept of an Office Suite is just that (and, regardless of the competition) and since some parts of this Suite work better than others,

MR. ZW, let's play nice now, OK? :) So regarding the thread of substance, what is DIFFERENT about the Ubuntu vs. Deb, vs official LO application? I didn't think that the Canonical folks MODIFY anything, correct? I think that keeping Ubuntu version separate from all others seems to be

I recently stumbled across some old newsletters I did in the late 1980's, using Wordperfect for DOS. I had bought a set of fonts (I think it was vefore TTF) that allowed a line drawing (I think it was in Adobe Illustrator format only) to become a text character. This was great in being able

Strange, in all these years I am sure I have used Tabs in tables and never did anything more than hit the Tab key. I am sure I would have asked this in 2006 or so had I noticed (...when I started using Ubuntu)! The workaround was to copy a tab to the Clipboard and then paste it as needed. But
