[libreoffice-users] Calc HH:MM:SS to decimal

2016-05-05 Thread Russell
does anyone know if there is a formula for a cell that will transform
the HH:mm:ss from another cell into a decimal equivalent?

example:

Cell A1 has 10:45:20

Cell A2 would change to 10.75

or

Cell A1 07:26:15

Cell A2 would change to 7.44 (or round it up 7.5)

Thanks

Russell

[libreoffice-users] Calc Defect

2016-05-03 Thread Russell

How do I report a found flaw in the software. Here?

Try this:
Start a new LibreOffice Calc
select any cell and format it to time 876613:37:46 format code [HH]:MM:SS
now enter a time like 10:05:22 (this is 10hr 5min 22sec)
Above looks good, right!
Now enter 10:11:22 (10hr 11min 22sec)
What do you see? Problem?
If you have the same problem you will notice this happens from any time
between

10:10:00 to 10:13:59

Funny, you can enter a time like 10:09:62 and 10:10:02 will display. But
you can

not enter 10:10:02 directly.

I have come across other times that do the same, but didn't keep a record of
which ones. This happens across OS platforms and versions.

I first found this problem when I installed LibreOffice ver 5.1.0.3 x64
on Windows.

I found the same problem on my Linux Mint 17.3 LibreOffice 5.0.3.2

I would like to start using LibreOffice but I have switched back to Open
Office

because I need this time format to work.

Thank You
Russell England

the 'default' one.

;)

(Or, more info is needed. What are you actually trying to do?)

I think if you were being a little less clever you'd guess that he is
trying to set either the fixed or dynamic date function to be the
default one if he just inserts a date. Currently, at least on my system,
the default is fixed. I'm not sure you can alter that, but that seems
to be the crux of his question.

You could create a Macro
(Tools/Macros/Record Macro)

And add it to your menu
(Tools/Customize/Menu)

- I do realize that this is not an answer to the question asked
- I also realize that this is not in 'LibreOffice', but in 'LibreOffice Writer'
(which is a part of the other one, but i seems to be using Calc more often...)

Hi Martin,

I think you can achieve what you want by making a template for your
letterhead, then setting the date as a field:

Insert--Fields--Other (NB NOT Date)
Then you will be presented with a table of potential fields.
Choose Date and you can then select Date (fixed) or Date - the
latter gives a variable date, and you can select the format you want to
display it. Note that the variable date will change each time you edit
the document. OTOH you may actually want Date (fixed) as this will be
the current date when you start your new document.

THANKS for that, I must admit I've gotten spoilt by lots of years on Windows

  One small step for mankind...

 http://hsqldb.org
 Download the latest version.
Put it somewhere in your libraries (no installation required).
Point your office Java to the extracted hsqldb.jar.
Extract ./database/ from your embedded database somewhere to your files.
Rename your database files with a common dbname. prefix.
Connect a new Base document using JDBC with an URL like this one (refer to
 the
 downloaded documentation in your libs):
  jdbc:
 hsqldb:file:/home/andreas/hsqldb-2.2.5/databases/Praxis/hsqldbdata/db0/chargen;default_schema=true;shutdown=true;hsqldb.default_table_type=cached;get_column_name=false
Copy over the queries, forms and reports from your embedded thing.

You get the latest version of a full featured HSQLDB without restrictions,
 many
more functions, the access control and safety you would expect from a
 database
 application.
You can write a configuration file to run a server for concurrent access.

 Drawbacks:
 - Embedded HSQL requires another Java config. I use OOo for embedded and LibO
 3.3.4 for normal access.
 - Base can not handle user defined row filters with HSQLDB2. I use my own
 power filters anyway.

I will work on getting the form out somewhere accessable. In the mean time, the
code I am trying to use looks like this:

Sub updateControlValue(Event As Object)

Dim Form As Object
Dim Controller As Object
Dim Model As Object
Dim Control As Object

Form=Event.Source.Model.Parent
Model=Form.getByName(testGroup)
Controller=Form.Parent.Parent.CurrentController
Control=Controller.getControl(Model)
Control.Enable=FALSE

End Sub

This works well on an individual form control, but when trying to apply it to a
Group of controls it fails to change the Multiselection Property. My gut tells
me that there is a different Method or Service that I need to use to access the
Group Properties, but I haven't had any luck identifying what it is.

Thanks,

restore its windows. Do you want to try to restore its windows again?

The options are don't restore windows and restore windows.

Selecting either had no effect. I spoke with Mac support several times
and was able to get control of the computer using force quit on LibreOffice.

Subsequently, I uninstalled LibreOffice and installed it again, but the
message persists, and when I used LibreOffice, I still have to use force
 quit to close it down.

Can anyone tell me how to clear this situation.

Thanks very much for any assistance that can be provided.

The problem is some conflict between Lion and LibO, and not even on all
Macs with Lion. I have it from time to time on a MBP, not on my iMac.
How to avoid it: closing LibO before shutting down your computer.
It will still occur when LiboO hangs and you have to Force Quit.

Remedy: use Terminal to throw away the savedState file that seems to cause
the problem of the obstinate restore/don't restore window.

Open Terminal (in your Applications/Programs folder Auxiliaries or Help
 Programs)
 after the prompt ($) type:

 rm -fr ~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State/org.libreoffice.script.savedState/

followed by a return and the problem should be solved...

You can find the Terminal command solution in bug report 39007.
 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39007

It was discussed on this list a few months ago, but the bug still isn't
solved in 3.4.4, probably causing quite a few Mac-users to abandon LibO!

Powerpoint

Hi :)
Dual-booting or multi-booting is one good option.  Another would be to use a
virtual machine.  Win98 might even be fine in a virtual machine on fairly
low-spec physical machines.  Mostly legacy stuff opens just fine in
LibreOffice.
Regards from
Tom :)

[libreoffice-users] 2Q -- WollMux for LibreOffice? -- Archives area?

2011-08-29 Thread Russell Wilson
The WollMux extension is listed on the extensions site but clicking on it leads
to a page missing error.

When downloading and trying to install it from a third party, it says it's
unable to be installed due to OOo not being installed.

Will there be a version available for LO?

Is there an archives site where such basic questions can be searched?  The
mailing list signon doesn't mention any archives area.

[libreoffice-users] New to Group, and so checking on Browser Plug-in

2011-08-29 Thread Russell Wilson
Trying to use LO 3.4.2 on Win 7 x64 and can't get browser plug-in to work --
been trying to read some of the LO manuals on line, so program/browser seems to
fail half-way --  screen gets half-greyed out (with white in other half of
window where od should be viewable but nothing to read!) -- thankfully pressing
back arrow enables previous page view, where document can be saved easily
enough -- not a big issue overall, compared to many others, but a pain none the
less.
