The "fresh" branch introduces new features. The "still" branch is suggested for "production" environments. [libreoffice-users] How to remove user-defined format codes for numbers?
LibreOffice 4 Some of my spreadsheets have a ridiculous number of user-defined format codes (for numbers in Alt, Format, Cells, Category, Number). I think I created them when I was learning how to format numbers. Now, I did not remove those files. Instead, I made smaller svg files, ~ 700 *bytes* each for base, calc, draw, impress, and writer files and ~ 450 bytes for the start-center-related files. [libreoffice-users] Why such large svg files in LibreOffice (Linux)?
I installed LibreOffice Version 4.0.2.2 (Build ID: 4c82dcdd6efcd48b1d8bba66bfe1989deee49c3) direct from http://www.libreoffice.org/download/ on Lubuntu 13.04. While I have no issues with it per se, I think it has installed some svg files in /usr/share/icons/gnome/scalable/apps that are really horrible. These svg files are several hundred kB in size and one, libreoffice4.0-calc.svg, is 1.3 MB. Opening that particular svg file in Firefox 22 or an image viewer takes a while. This is on a Core2Duo laptop with 4GB RAM. I really don't see the need for such bloated svg files. When I inspected it with a text editor and with svg-edit.html (https://code.google.com/p/svg-edit/), it's clear to see that there's just so much garbage in there. Grrr... Do these svg files have any purpose at all? I notice that copying cells in Calc (LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 and Ubuntu 12.04), bumps up the CPU usage of Xorg from ~2% to > 12%. This level of CPU usage by Xorg remains until the cells are deselected. (At this point I open a terminal and run "top" to monitor %CPU and then return to the Calc window.) *5:* Click on "copy visible cells". Result: The area selected (E1 to O775) is "highlighted" but does not get enclosed by the /marching ants marquee/ associated with cells that are copied. The highlight then seems to extend itself (without any intervention by me) to the entire Calc screen (and presumably from A1 to AMJ1048576?). %CPU in "top" rises to >90% in a few seconds and Calc closes itself within ~ 10 sec of clicking on "copy visible cells". The same thing happens with a smaller data set. In other words, if I sort the spreadsheet as above and then delete row 189 onwards to have a smaller data set, the same thing happens except that Calc takes even less time to exit. -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Using-Copy-only-visible-cells-version-1-0-5-on-subtotal-summary-causes-Calc-to-exit-tp3964486.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Okay! With LibreOffice *not* running, I used Nautilus (the file manager) to delete /usr/lib/libreoffice/share/extensions/menubar and I've now got back the original behavior. -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice-3-4-3-on-Ubuntu-11-10-Unity-3D-tp3431366p3431583.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
[libreoffice-users] Re: LibreOffice 3.4.3 on Ubuntu 11.10 (Unity 3D)
Hi Tom, thanks for replying. I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) with Unity 3D. I'd have preferred to have uninstalled it via LibreOffice itself but I'll give your suggestion a try and hope I don't break anything. I'm not vastly experienced in Linux. So let's see. I had installed the "Copy Visible Cells" extension and that has a way to disable/remove it from within LibreOffice's Extension Manager. That, in my opinion, should be the way to uninstall extensions. -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice-3-4-3-on-Ubuntu-11-10-Unity-3D-tp3431366p3431523.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
[libreoffice-users] LibreOffice 3.4.3 on Ubuntu 11.10 (Unity 3D)
Hi, I installed lo-menubar from the Ubuntu Software Center which is said to provide a Global Menu rather than a program-specific one. While the installation is successful and the extension works as stated, I would like to disable or remove it because I now realise that it does have "*Windows*" as part of the Global Menu. There's File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Tools, Help ... but no *Windows*. I'm used to relying on *Windows* and then opening a new window of the same document. Additionally, LibreOffice would remember how I arrange two Windows and open the second window just the way I like it. Since Windows is missing, I have to work around by going to File, New Document which I don't like. When I look in Tools, Extension Manager, I see three extensions listed: Copy Visible cells (which I had installed on LibreOffice 3.3 / Natty and which has been retained during the upgrade to 11.10) menubar (installed via Ubuntu Software Center) Script Provider for Python 3.3.0 (which seems to have been there by default since I didn't install it) The last two, menubar and Script Provider have little locks next to them. While the first, "Copy visible cells" has a disable/remove option, the two with locks next to them don't. So it looks like I cannot disable or remove menubar unless someone helps me! -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice-3-4-3-on-Ubuntu-11-10-Unity-3D-tp3431366p3431366.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

[libreoffice-users] Extending selection in Calc (LibreOffice 3.4.2, Linux)
Hello, I'm using LibreOffice 3.4.2 OOO340m1 (Build:203) on a PC running Linux Mint 11. I'm having difficulty with extending a selection as I'll try to describe below. I have six columns with headers named A: date B: scrip C: buy D: total E: cum avg F: shares Every cell in the first four columns has data (till the end of the file). Cells in column 5 and 6 have data only for the row corresponding to my latest purchase of shares of a particular scrip. In this case, these in rows 5 and 10. See attached image. http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/file/n3230960/Screenshot.png Screenshot.png In LibreOffice 3.3.2, I could click on D2, extend the selection to E2 with "shift" and the "right arrow", and then move down straight to cell E5 (the next occupied cell in column E) by holding down "control" and pressing the "down arrow" once. I could then release the "control" key and press the "left arrow" to get the total of cells D2 to D5. With LibreOffice 3.4.2, I find the same procedure takes me right down to E10 which never used to happen with earlier versions. -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Extending-selection-in-Calc-LibreOffice-3-4-2-Linux-tp3230960p3230960.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
