Yes, this happens in lots of programs.  I had almost forgotten that it
happens--I had to do the fix a long time ago, and now automatically use the
fix.  Other possible problem software in this regard (trying to remember
now)

   I've noticed this to be the case for quite a while - not just in LO
;-(

   There's only one way I know to get around this quirk -
rather than 'copy image', 'save' image to the computer -->
   upload from there to the document -->
  return to the computer and delete the file  ;-)

Hi :)
In Win7 using LO 3.5.6 there seemed to be no problems

Ubuntu 12.04 using LO 3.5.4 also seemed fine.

Xp (Sp3 and fully updated as far as MS stuff goes) using 3.5.6 had trouble with 
the image and just showed an empty box with the words "broken link" (or 
something like that) inside the box and a tiny icon indicating  a broken 
image.  


I suspect that my Xp issue might be different from the problem you having 
though.  Possibly you might be able to fix yours by just increasing the amount 
of memory available by going to 


Tools - Options - Memory 


and then bump a lot of those values up a bit.  I still don't know how to set 
the xcu file or whatever to make sure all users start off with the same 
settings and i'm a tad scared of messing with Windows registry (even more 
scared than i am of messing with fstab in Gnu&Linux (not that they are at all 
similar as they aren't.  I do know they do completely different things)).

Maybe I've done something terribly wrong but if our users do a Google search 
for a picture then 
copy and paste the image into LO it hangs.


If there is a post I've missed about this can you point me to it please ... 
else the complete description follows


Start a LO document
Open FF or Chrome 
Search on a picture eg Cats
Google them shows loads of pictures in a grid of biggish thumbnails which when 
you hover over get bigger
Hover over a picture and Copy image
Go to LO and Paste
Picture will now appear in LO
LO will now either run unbelievable slowly of hang completely


If however when you have chosen the image in Google you click on it and go to 
the full size image
you can cut and paste successfully. The method that hangs LO worked in Word and 
I am getting
a lot of grief over this now we have shown Word the door . !
