You can select one or all the slides from a presentation. It is the
feature which was available until LibreOffice

I have a Windows 10 box with LO 6.0.0.3 and it also does not have the
"insert > file" option.
However, it does have "Slide > Insert slide from file".
Could this do what you require ?
