Re[2]: [libreoffice-users] [OT] Microsloth Winblows was: Re: Lotus Wordpro files

2011-09-02 Thread Grawburg
If I have offended someone, I apologize; however, making negative comments
about an OS is certainly not a personal
attack against users of said OS.  I could care less what OS someone uses, I am
though, entitled to my personal opinion
regarding Windows, Linux, OS/2, etc.  That being said, can anyone deny that
Microsoft has always made it difficult
for people to use any software that competes with something they offer?
Microsoft may control the world market for
desktop operating systems; that does not make it necessarily the best
available.  Every iteration of Windows makes it
increasingly difficult for the average person to continue using their existing
hardware.  My Thinkpad T30 works fine
with XP (my T20 works fine with OS/2), do you think it will function well with
Windows 7?  Microsoft seems to think everyone
has a bottomless pocket and can constantly upgrade their equipment.

Don, give me a break.

2011-09-02 Thread Don C. Myers

Hi Brian,

I agree totally with everything you said, other than the mis-spelling in
the title. Because of the things Microsoft has done over the years, I'm
95% to 98% windows free, and love using Ubuntu!!! I'm sorry if I
hurt you. That was not my intent. Since there are so many Windows users
yet, and some of them using LibreOffice, and since some Windows users
will never ever change, I didn't want them to feel we were not
hospitable to them here. I've installed Ubuntu in the last 2 years
roughly on about 22 computers of friends and family. But a few people
have not let me touch their computer, and become quite defensive when I
even mention about Linux or Ubuntu. It is sad since there is a whole new
world out there waiting for them that they will never experience!!

No sweat Don...

Tell me, why Ubuntu instead of Xandros?
Also, have you had any problems converting from OpenOffice to LO?

I'm sorry if I  hurt you. That was not my intent.
