E: no-binary

How can it be 64-bit only *and* no binary?

If it only works on x86_64, then set

noarch is be for architecture independent stuff, e.g. scripts and

JD, seeing as how you are coming from a comcast address you will not
be able to receive (quality/modern) TV broadcasts on the dongle.
(There is a Windows tool that VERY poorly receives NTSC signals. There
are still some sprinkled around if you look for them.) It will not
receive any legal DTV signal in the US. (I need to double check; but,
I don't believe DVB-T is legal in the US for ham use. {^_-} If it is

I quote from the web page:

Note:
Please make sure your region can receive DVB-T signal.

... which is likely to be true mainly in Europe, Australia,... If you are in
the US and if Over-The-Air TV is accessible for you it's likely to be in ATSC
format. Google tv standards.

Hardware and software for TV reception must fit your location. I don't know
where you are. linux compatibility cannot be assumed, and chips may be
substituted without notice. All those pictured system disks will be for
Windows - and the pictured antennae will/may work only very near a transmitter.

For 'tuners' the main formal source of info is the linux-media website, but
there's a lot of anecdotal stuff around too. Last time I looked the
linux-media list was heavily developer-centric.

The proposed purchase is certainly cheap, but I doubt that you will find it
useful. Do you want a system that will work, or an excuse to cultivate
frustration?

I've used MythTV for years, but getting a reliable system isn't trivial.

I hope that I might find amature stations that are broadcasting in the DVB-T
standard.
At least I hope to find such stations within the 150-250 mile reception range of
an external antenna.
A little scanning never hurt anyone :)

Now, I'm using it on the more powerful Windows machine I have. But, I can tell
you I have received ham radio signals from around 3.8 MHz up through 1.2 GHz on
appropriate ham bands. I've also received railroad dispatchers (161 MHz region),
and innumerable pager transmitters, aircraft ADSB, ATC, FM broadcast, NOAA
broadcasts (162.5 MHz region), and so forth. Others use them for satellite
weather maps send down from space craft. Most anything between "0 MHz" (hundred
kHz-ish frequencies) through about 13.5 MHz (null at 14.4 MHz) and from about
20-25 MHz up through 1.7 GHz. Some frequencies require suitable
preamplification. All frequencies require you get the dongle as far from your
computer, and other noise sources, as you can get it, of course. Good advice
still exists on the ultra-cheap-sdr list I mentioned last rock.

I hope you have fun with it.

http://www.rtl-sdr.com/new-rtl-sdr-blog-units-now-available-in-store-hf-via-direct-sampling-software-switchable-bias-tee-less-noisespurs/;
They are garden variety DVB-T dongles of the correct sort for use in SDR work.

Second check out the ultra-cheap-sdr google group mailing list. It is dedicated
to both Linux and Windows uses.

Third, you might be interested in snarfing up Leif Asbrink's "Linrad". It is a
nice, if complicated, piece of work.

Those three suggestions should get you well on your way to getting some form of
SDR working on your system without a lot of the Gnu Radio aches and pains and
about as clean an 8 bit SDR dongle as you can get.

I haven't used an rtl2832 for tv reception, so I don't know what
packages you need installed. rtl-sdr is a good one to have because it
provides a library api to the device, and will probably be used by any
application programs.

I see this in the page you pointed to.

  Note:
Please make sure your region can receive DVB-T signal.

Can you receive digital signals in your area? In my area, they need a
tall antenna because the transmitter is partially blocked. Unless you
live very close to the transmitter, I doubt the little antenna that
comes with this will work. It should work for fm with a reasonably
strong signal (in an urban area).

This page seems to be from someone who has done what you want to do.

Sorry for incomplete reply.
I checked
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_digital_television_deployments_by_country#United_States

and USA does not support (does not allow) dvb-t signaling.

This video seems to suggest that dvb-t is not the standard in North
America, where ATSC is used for over the air digital transmission. He
says that a dvb-t dongle won't work in North America. ATSC dongles are
also available, but much more costly.

See this url on DVB-T:

Also note that the OS requirements (as per the spec) do not include

Also note that the ad (at least one I looked at) is in French--maybe it
works in France.

I think I agree with you. Your case is very different than mine. If
it was my system, I would save any unique information, reinstall from
scratch, then reintroduce the unique information.

Maybe you could paste it somewhere on the web (twice to be redundant) in
encrypted form, and recover it after the new install.

Thanks. I think the installation is hosed. When I run that command on

I read this as an internal error in firefox. Like you, I don't think it
is because of firefox, but because the installation has been corrupted.

Anyway, this is all academic, since you now have a working version that
you downloaded directly.

After this line, you are within your personal build tree below %_builddir
as set up during %prep.

To change into that build directory is an automatic step at the beginning
of every spec file section.

You've given the name of that directory as the -n option to %autopsetup or
%setup. Often, it is the root directory of the extracted source tarball.

Anything you need to set up, do it directly within that directory.

What's the goal of those lines? Once you've followed the symlink with "cd
platform", you're back in your original build directory.

I see this same behavior on F25, running a 4.10 kernel. I also tried
Tom's solution of getting rid of the a11y... file. It didn't work for
me either, and I get processes complaining that it is missing.

If I let the computer sit when it says shutdown reached, about 90
seconds later it completes the shutdown. The screen flashes too
quickly for me to read what is holding up the shutdown, but it is
probably the systemd --user daemons that Tom mentions in his article.

I haven't yet experimented with changing the timeout options in a
custom file in /etc/dbus-1, but will probably do so in the future.
There has to be a way to set the timeouts for a sigterm on those
processes to be less than 90 seconds, say 10 seconds.

So, if you let your computer sit for a few minutes, it will shut down
when those processes time out.

OK, so I don't use %{_builddir} in my macro. So, what should I use?
Let's atke the first few lines:

 # cd %{_builddir} <-- As suggested, I don't need to cd.
mkdir -p src/github.com/mattermost
cd src/github.com/mattermost
ln -s %{_builddir}/platform-master platform

Here is the rpmbuild output for these lines:
-
+ STATUS=0
+ '[' 0 -ne 0 ']'
+ cd platform-master
+ /usr/bin/chmod -Rf a+rX,u+w,g-w,o-w .
+ cd /home/makerpm/rpmbuild
+ mkdir -p src/github.com/mattermost
+ cd src/github.com/mattermost
+ ln -s /home/makerpm/rpmbuild/platform-master platform
--
May you give me the correct syntax you would use for these lines?

Thank you so much for all these good practices. These kinds of hints are
very hard to find in fact. It is easy to quickly mess everything when it
comes to using macros.

EDIT : reading more on the Arch topic, I must add my application is built
with go. Rfering to Go packaging binaries[0], it seems I must use:
BuildArch: noarch
ExclusiveArch: %{go_arches} noarch

Is this correct?

Build .rpm for X64_64 only

2017-01-15 Thread arnaud gaboury
I wrote a spec file to build a .rpm for an application working only on 64
bits machines. The package builds fine and is in this form:
myapp-version.fc25.x86_64.rpm

Now, $ fedpkg --dist f25 lint complains:
E: no-binary

Googling I found the package should be of the noarch architecture. Adding
BuildArch: noarch right below Source in my .spec file leaves me with:
myapp-version.fc25.noarch.rpm and fedpkg lint doesn't complain anymore.

My question: is this the correct way to build my .rpm, using the noarch in
the spec file? Or shall I keep myapp-version.fc25.x86_64.rpm and ignore the
ling Error?

Thank you for help

I tried this today and it failed! No reboot at all: computer stays alive
with a black screen and fan running.

I installed the last kernel available for fedora 24 (4.8.16). When I do
not work with computer (ie. Just start it, log-in and shutdown) the
computer shutdowns normaly. If I do something (read my mail, open a text
file...) the computer is unable to shutdown. Conclusion: a computer is
not made forworking! Just have it, start it and stare at your background
image (and do not change it, or you will be unable to shut it down!).

Chris Murphy says that it is a "regression". OK! So on fedora 27, the
system will be unable to even start!

Re: deltarpms save almost no space

2017-01-15 Thread Andre Robatino
With the latest push, it's creating drpms both between the 2 latest versions,
and between release and latest. But it didn't create the drpms that were
missing before. For example, in
https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/updates/25/x86_64/drpms/ there's
still only thunderbird-45.4.0-1.fc25_45.6.0-3.fc25.x86_64.drpm (there should
have been one from 45.6.0-2 to 45.6.0-3, but that update was from before the
fix) but for the just released 4.9.3 kernel there's both
kernel-4.8.16-300.fc25_4.9.3-200.fc25.x86_64.drpm and
kernel-4.8.6-300.fc25_4.9.3-200.fc25.x86_64.drpm. So should be good going
forward, if you're already up to date.

I had the same issue. After switching to ahci, windows did not boot
anymore. I think that back to Raid on did not make windows work any
better.
In AHCI, you can first reinstall windows if you want to keep it and then Fedora.
Windows can be downloaded on the windows site.

Be careful with the BIOS setup, the DELL support made me change some
things there and I had to reinstall F25. They also changed my mother
card 2 times and I had to reinstall F25 each time. It seems that there
is something in the BIOS that says "if not windows, crash the master
boot record".
