We have some clusters using overlay2 and some using devicemapper (lvm). We
haven't noticed much difference in terms of performance. I will admit
though that disk performance isn't really something we're very focused on,
so take my observation with a grain of salt.
We are now opting more for using

Yeah, I will eventually create a video and repo for installing 4.x on bare
metal. As far as timeline goes, I am thinking sometimes in the 4.2 - 4.3
timeframe as I have a lot of other stuff going on right now.
