RC have a mobile browser webmail interface that is very good.
I used K9 Mail app on Android to access SMTP and dovecot. Users swear by it.
On iOS I use the Apple Mail app for SMTP and IMAP.

I upgraded from 1.5.2 to 1.6.0, but the SMTP auth broke. I got the error
message when I tried to send a message in the browser: SMTP Error ():
Authentication Failed.
Smtp-auth worked before, and it still works with my other non-webmail clients.

Off the top of my head:
Was the default authentication method changed between 1.3.1 and 1.4.9?
Was anything else upgraded, like postfix or whatever mail transfer you use?
There will be a corresponding error in the MTA logs, which hopefully shows the
auth method used. Check this is the same

The elastic mobile interface sessions timed out after a few mins.
Is there different setting for the mobile clients?

Hi,
If you are hitting modsec rules, these ought to be logged in a file. Forgotten
file name because it's been awhile . The logging of blocking rules must be
enabled in the .conf somewhere. At least this was the case years ago.
At least this can rule out modsec.

Update: Solution was to optimise the dB:
find -type f -name roundcube.sq -exec sqlite3 {} 'VACUUM;' \;
Size dropped from 21Mb down to 280kB.
