Yes, there is a way to recover a deleted file on the Mac.
Enter Time Machine, scroll back from Today / Now to the last time the Mac was
backed up before you deleted the file (up to an hour before you deleted it, if
your Mac had been on for a while that session, or the previous time you used
Review Screen
and not the File it self. I hit discard and it deleted my spreadsheet file.
Maybe it should have asked me if I wanted to delete the file after I selected
the Discard button.
Is there a way to recover my spreadsheet fie?
Thank you.

I wonder whether you actually have the same problem I had.
"Recent Documents" could be stored anywhere - and if you go the the
folder(s) I'll bet they are still there.
The problem is that OO is not very clever at saving the list of "recent
documents".
If you open OO first then you may find them
Dear Sir/Madam,
All documents that were saved in "Recent Documents" disappeared, including a
text I had written this morning.
How do I recover my file?
I await a reply.
Thank you very much for your attention.

I can't tell you how to retrieve it, but for future reference you might want

Hello,
I accidentally deleted a 100-page manuscript and was hoping someone could
help me retrieve it? I've searched everywhere and can't find it. I don't
know enough about coding to be able to search in a deeper manner.
Thanks in advance for your help!

below are the answers you received from the list members.
This part of the original description (pound keys) actually seems to

Photorec to see if one (only one needed) of these will find deleted old files

It is extremely unlikely that your files have been deleted.

I've recently begun using Open Office Base to organize my stamp

If so, you can re-import the data after recreating an empty

You need to use an Undelete utility sch as PhotoRec (for all platforms) or
Recuva (for Windows only). This may or may not be successful.

Uwe Brauer
how to delete all niqquds in a document?
You can try to use a regular expression to replace them with nothing. It
should be smth like [\u-\u\u-\u] (4 hex digits),
representing whatever characters you want to remove.
Uwe Brauer:
However when I save the file and reopen it a only can delete the letter
with the niqqud but not the niqqud itself.
Try to put the caret after it, then pressing Alt+Left arrow and Delete.
