Android OpenOffice: the urgent need for a "go-back-one-step" - function/key

Dear Sir/Madam,

I use Android OpenOffice daily, and continuously, on my Android tablet, and
I need an additional function built into the software please. I explain:

I have an 800 page "Text Document" which I edit for my personal use on a
daily basis - and I have to move forth and back continuously. To move
forward I use search& find, but then I have to go back every time to my
previous position... and your software does not have that function.

Could you please build it into your software. The absence of it is a real
problem and I am sure that many users would appreciate such a function. If
you need more information, please email me.

How about a Open Office that works on an Andriod tablet?

My windows RT tablet (2013 Surface) is dead by design. No upgrades/updates
available, even for the browser, which is pretty much not supported by any
websites anymore, andit no longer powers up. (the browser tha MS installed
is the only browser option, as MS never approved another for the Surface.
No browsers (including the "latest and greatest" by MS) will download or
install.

I've used Open Office on my laptops and work desktops since 2000. I like
Open Office much more than MS WORD.

Nina,

I don't know what "all documents" means (text documents only?
spreadsheets too? presentations?).

I would advise against attempting to edit large documents or
spreadsheets on a phone which has a much smaller screen than a tablet.

However, on any Android based tablet with a 7" or larer screen, a
third party port of AOO exists for Android. I have used it succesfully
for months...

It gives you the full functionality and user interface as the desktop version.

An Android version is not available directly from The Apache OpenOffice
project, but there is an Android port called AndrOpen Office available
from the Play Store. This is a port and not supported directly from the
AOO project, but from the creator.

[PETER SMITH]

Hi New phone LG G4 ,due to old one dying. Had no problem with older phone
and Openoffice , but new one just can't hack it! I copied file from
computer ,as usual, and when I try to open, I get the "type in password"
,which * I do ,*hit enter and after a bit of time at 100 p/cent , I get a
"something went wrong" message. I uninstalled and tried again- same
problem. Also, since the file contains all my passwords etc. I can't send
to you to have a go.

There is something called AndrOpenOffice available on Google Play. 
There have been various opinions on it.  There is also a LibreOffice
viewer, which can read but not write the various document formats.

files are saved with a password via my windows system. When I open the 
android version on my tablet, I can see the files, but the won't open, 
because it says that my password is not correct. ( but it is correct ).

I agree with Rory that this port is unofficial, but (if you are talking 
about AndrOpen Office) it is completely based on the OpenOffice code. 
In this case, though, it seems that either it does not support password 
protection or it doesn't support the new encryption standard we use (I 
don't remember exactly, but the Release Notes may have more 
information). So the correct support channel is the one listed at 
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andropenofficehl=it

Well, the page I mentioned above (now edited to be language-neutral 
instead of Italian) links to

reports, and the second one in the list of the Known Issues is Cannot

under Android platform. Unable to recognize on the Web-Page this 
possibility.

Hallo Detlef

Kannte ich bisher nicht.
Habe es jetzt auf diesem schon etwas aelteren Point of View Tegra installiert.
Im Vergleich zum sonst genutzten Quick Office HD Pro schon mal extrem 
schwerfaellig in allen Aktionen. Oeffnen eines leeren Dokumentes dauert mehrere 
Minuten. 
Bei nicht mal besonders komplexen Tabellenmappen mehrere Abstuerze. 
Danach muss immer auch der Prozess ueber den Taskmanager gekillt werden.

Kurzer, erster Eindruck:
Ein Anfang, aber fuer den zuverlaessigen taeglichen Einsatz noch nicht 
ausgereift.

What version did you download (platform), and from where did you 
download from. As far as I know AOO is not availale for Android from 
Apache.org/Openoffice.org.

There are some third party Openoffice stuff in the Goole play store for 
my Android device, but they are not supported on this list.

Not at the moment. There were some interesting demos about future 
developments, including a cloud version that could run in browser (so, 
theoretically, on a phone too) at the Apache Conference last month, see
