Yeah
Which version of the OpenVZ kernel are you using to run containers built
using this template? I've tried using the 2.6.18 RHEL5 versions but a
number of commands fail. It appears that Fedora 10 isn't compatible with
the older kernels. For example touch x results in touch: setting times

Thanks very much for testing this out. I appreciate the help.
The problem with small is that something that used to depend on initscripts
no longer does, so you have to specify it explicitly. I'll fix it in the

Robert and Kir,
I spent quite a bit of time testing today. My testing environment was a RHEL

I tried to create an OS Template for every distro, distro version, and arch. Then I created
containers from each default OS Template. Previously I

This is what I did so far:
Install debians 2.6.26 openvz kernel from the etch backports repository.
Install pkg-cacher, vzpkg2 and vztmpl2-debian from

Ah I think I understand the confusion now, I don't think you read the
messge I sent with the installation instructions. Here is the
information about the new variables I added to vz.conf.
VZPKG_CACHE_HOST is exactly what you think it is. But it is just a
variable that is used as a

Hi Robert,
I'm trying to play with vzpkg2. Here are some random problems I

is what I see:
/usr/share/vzpkg2/cache-os: line 164:

I did some more thinking about this, additional comments below:

A few more questions to Robert (sorry for top-posting)
1. Can you explain how you deal with chicken-and-egg problem? I
mean, to run yum/rpm inside a VE you need to have those packages
(and their deps) inside the VE. In old vzpkg
I completed a new version of the package tools and templates. These new
versions fully support both RedHat (RHEL, CentOS, Fedora) and Debian
(Debian, Ubuntu) HNs. The major change is splitting the building of the
add-ons from the templates.
The source can be browsed on
a requirement that is EQ and it doesn't include a revision just a
version then zypper accepts any revision yum barfs.
