Re: [ovirt-users] Where to add NFS Data Storage

2016-03-21 Thread Taste-Of-IT

Hello All and Joop ;),

ok i think to know what you mean. So my problem is to understand the
construct of hosted engine and the supply of vms. actually i want the
engine as small as possible and the host offer the nfs storage for iso
and data/vms. now i understand that the engine has to be as big as
possible, because the nfs storage is provided by the engine self, right?

that would mean, that if i have 300gb disk on host free i have to give
the engine the max size of lets say 300gb for iso and data/vms, right?
but the question remains, where should i configure the nfs storage since
i must add storage at installation on host. at engine installation i can
say no if i where ask for storage. but i have to add the storage in
webgui, but which one?

as you can see iam a bit confused.

That's currently not supported by hosted-engine setup.

otopi itself also reads these files from /etc/otopi.conf and
/etc/otopi.conf.d/*.conf
(both do not exist by default, but you can create what you want).

All tools will read it, so be careful about what you add there. This
might include
also host-deploy.

hosted-engine setup has special handling for '--config-append', but in
principle you
can use that. It might be difficult on additional hosts, due to this
special handling.

You can also try imitating the behavior of engine-setup by passing e.g.:

hosted-engine --deploy
--otopi-environment="APPEND:CORE/configFileName=str:/etc/ovirt-hosted-engine-setup.conf"

If the model can be shared between two hosts (I remember the old PVs having
this option as an alternative to a split backplane) then potentially you
should be able to detect the shared volume with multipath and oVirt should
be able to pick it up as FC storage

2016-03-21 Thread Lev Veyde
Hi Bill,

And how you installed the VirtIO Network drivers?

Have you used the installer or installed them manually?

Thanks in advance,
Lev Veyde.

[ovirt-users] Shared storage

2016-03-21 Thread Maton, Brett
Hello list,

I was wondering if any one could tell me if a Dell MD1400 Direct Attached
Storage unit is suitable for shared storage between ovirt hosts?

I really don't want to buy something that isn't going to work :)

Regards,
Brett

Hi Bill,

Do you see the same issue on Linux machines as well or only on Windows ones?

Thanks in advance,
Lev Veyde.

Hi, I have set up a Windows 2012 R2 vm in OVIRT. I have tried using e1000 and
virtio drivers for network connection. I am able to establish a connection,
however, cannot access internet. Despite the fact the connection shows
Internet, received and sent bytes seem very low.

Has anyone seen this issue and can help?

Thank you.

You could also take a look at RHEV 3.6 Administration Guide, chapter 13
Users and Roles [2]
where you can find detailed steps for common configurations.

This is an old, unmaintained component. You should use the new aaa-ldap one.
Search the list archives for "aaa-ldap" and/or read the README file in the
sources [1]. Best,
