Generally, 'yum update' should be enough. See also:

[ovirt-users] USB 2.0 compatibility

2017-02-07 Thread Jonathan Woytek
Hello all. Please forgive me if this is covered officially somewhere, but
my google-fu has been unable to help me find much recent information. I
have a couple of devices (RTL SDR's) that require USB 2.0, but the pass
through seems to only support a virtual 1.1 hub for devices. The devices
are correctly recognized and configured by the hypervisor host, but when
connected to a VM, they show up on a 1.1 hub, and the driver fails to load
as a result.

I have found some older information that only USB 1.1 devices were
supported via USB pass through. I haven't found much newer information,
though, and also couldn't find newer problem reports.

I'm running 4.1, upgraded from a 4.0 installation, on Centos 7.

I was hoping to build a little RF capture and analysis cluster using
several of these devices, but this is a bit of a roadblock! Any ideas?

I think the oVirt scheduling policy can be set to NOT run VMs on the
arbiter node. This is something you can explore to solve your first 2
points.
The reason it'll be helpful to have arbiter also managed by oVirt is so
that the maintenance and fencing logic are aware of the state of all nodes
in the cluster. There's logic added specific to gluster to ensure that
quorum is not lost while moving a node to maintenance/when a node is fenced.

[ovirt-users] Hosted engine errors after 4.1 upgrade.

2017-02-07 Thread Todd Punderson
Seeing issues with my hosted engine, it seems it's unable to extract
vm.conf from storage. My ovirt-hosted-engine-ha/agent.log is full of this
repeating over and over. This is happening on all 3 of my hosts. My storage
is glusterfs on the hosts themselves.

Hopefully this is enough info to get started.

Thanks!

[ovirt-users] How to update ovirt ng nodes

2017-02-07 Thread Massimo Mad
Hi,
How is the right procedure for upgrade the host from 4.0 to 4.1.
I don't find any document with the right procedure, if i use the iso of the
version 4.1 and i boot with this iso there is'nt the option on boot for
upgrade.
The problem is that it should be updated .repo file with the 4.1 release, but
is supported ?
How do you update the hosts ?

Re: [ovirt-users] Disk Move Failure

Looks like the issue was caused by having my iscsi targeted hosted on an
LVM volume. I changed the target to use a raw disk (/dev/sdb) and disk
moves between pools are working now.

And also it seems strange, that user can't edit own profile, or it was designed
that way?
If user disallowed to edit own profile there is even no way for admin to manage
user keys,
I can't find such options in UI for editing user profiles, only for assigning
permissions.
or maybe I need to add global role for everyone to allow editing own profile?

Re: [ovirt-users] seem that SuperUser role isn't super.

2017-02-07 Thread Derek Atkins
Hi Sergey,

One thing that confused me when I first started was the difference between
Admin permissions and User permissions. They are, apparently, two
separate sets, and which set gets looked at depends on which portal you're
using. If you give someone a User permission they can't use the admin
functions (even if those admin functions require the same permission), and
vice-versa (and admin role can't use the user functions).

This bit me early on.

Honestly, I have no idea here. I do not think we ever supported those
for hosted engine and the ssh console I hear the first time about. I
opened a bug so we can properly investigated it:

[ovirt-users] Disk Move Failure

2017-02-07 Thread Michael Watters
I have set up a new iSCSI storage pool in ovirt and attempted to move a
disk from another iSCSI pool however the operation fails with the
following error.

* User admin@internal have failed to move disk centos7_template_Disk1 to

* VDSM mdct-ovirt-node-production1 command failed: Cannot create Logical

I checked the vdsm.log file and it also shows errors like below.

Re: [ovirt-users] missing hvc0 device on hosted engine

2017-02-07 Thread Berger, Sandy
Thank you for your response. I installed the ovirt-hosted-engine-ha and
ovirt-hosted-engine-setup RPMs from the snapshot link you sent me onto the two
hosts that can host the engine. I re-ran engine-setup on the engine just in
case and rebooted the two hosts capable of hosting the engine and the engine
itself. I am now able to run the "hosted-engine --console" command successfully
but since the 4.1 upgrade the console button in the toolbar for the hosted
engine is dimmed in the GUI. That is still the case. Is that expected behavior
with 4.1 or is there some other issue going on?

Also, when I use the command "ssh -t -p ovirt-vmconsole@engine," I get a
menu of VMs that I can choose from and get a serial console to them. That
option has never worked for the hosted engine. The engine shows up as a menu
item but selecting it yields a socket error. This works successfully on the
other VMs.

Thanks!

Hi,

we know about this and we already pushed patches that should resolve
this issue in 4.1.1 (one was merged today in fact).

We track the issue here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1364132 and the patch that
should resolve it is here: https://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/71472/

Applying the change manually or waiting for a new snapshot package in
http://resources.ovirt.org/pub/ovirt-4.1-snapshot/rpm//noarch/
might help you in the meantime.

Best regards

Re: [ovirt-users] oVirt VM backup and restore

2017-02-07 Thread Beckman, Daniel
We’re been using oVirtBackup with our oVirt 4.0.5 environment and it’s worked
well. It’s not the most efficient ( first creates a snapshot, then clone, then
backup) but we can live with it.

Has anyone tested oVirtBackup with oVirt 4.1? Does it still work? I want to
know before we upgrade. I’d like to eventually use the new v4 API but I haven’t
seen a lot of documentation on how it works in practice.

Thanks,
Daniel

Hello,

  *   With ovirt <= 4.1 and ovirtsdk3 :
https://github.com/wefixit-AT/oVirtBackup

This workflow works fine but will be soon deprecated.

  * With ovirt > 4.0, jhernandez has recently posted a new python script
based on the new v4 API :
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine-sdk/blob/master/sdk/examples/vm_backup.py

I personnally didn't try it, maybe someone could give a feedback.

[ovirt-users] Total memory and storage are not showed when using Dashboard with a non US language

2017-02-07 Thread Jose Manuel Marquez Alhambra
Hi, I am using oVirt 4.1 version.

When I enter into Admin Portal using "U.S. English language", the dashboard
loads well. But if I enter into dashboard using another language, for example,
using "Español de España", total memory and storage are not showed.

Attached you will find two screen captures: one using English language, another
using Spanish language.

I don't think the delay in GUI has anything to do with the logs below. Are
there any logs related to retrieving node details?

Any reason why the Arbiter node will not be managed by oVirt?

because it takes ages to get attention and get it in, even in cases when the
text/update is more of an FYI and doesn’t require feedback.
That leads to frustration, and that leads to loss of any motivation to
contribute anything at all.
You can see people posting on their own platforms, blogs, just to run away from
this one

I do not think we absolutely have to change a tool, just the process. We do not
need anything fancy, it would be enough to e.g. automatically merge anything
unless -1 from anyone in 48 hours, and maybe add protection for few intro pages
we do not want to let anyone touch

feature of oVirt 4.1.

When: Wed 2017-02-08 17:00 - 17:30 (IST)

Join here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhCaagBH4sU

Virt-sparsify is a new feature in oVirt 4.1. It allows to remove unused
space from a disk image and return it back to the storage.

We will learn why this feature is needed and how to use it from user
perspective. After that we wll look deeper into implementation and explain
prerequisites of virt-sparsify operation.

Re: [ovirt-users] VM fails to start - oVirt 4.1 and Node NG 4.1

2017-02-07 Thread Anantha Raghava

Hello Yaniv,

The issue seems to have resolved post upgrade to oVirt Node 4.1 to
4.1.0.1. Also, Ubuntu Precise Disk was corrupted and all other VMs are
starting properly. I removed the VM and recreated the same, it started
functioning normally.

Now need to assess as to why the VM Disk got corrupted at the first
place. Cannot attach the logs here as the logs are already rotated.

However thanks for help.

Can some one guide how to fix this?

Can you share some logs? Specifically, the engine log and the vdsm log

the above sounds ok, but one of the best indicators is the unix system load
what is the number of VMs (and guest cpus) you’re running on that 48 core host?
also check if the vdsm or libvirt process cpu usage is not exceptionally high

Can you share some logs? Specifically, the engine log and the vdsm log from

Ok, thanks Pavel. I’ll file a bug report with the logs and report back once
done.

Mark,

In your case all 30 workers were busy by vdsm.virt.sampling.HostMonitor
discarded by timeout, and there were 3000 tasks in the queue.
I encountered the problem. In my case ISO domain was not responding.

The issue is that vdsm executor doesn’t remove discarded workers. This is a bug.

Subject: RE: [ovirt-users] Ovirt 4.0.6 guests 'Not Responding'

Hi Pavel,

Thanks for responding. I bounced the VDSMD service, the guests recovered and
the monitor and queue full messages also cleared. However, we did keep getting
intermittent “Guest x Not Responding “ messages being communicated by the
Hosted Engine, in most cases the guests would actually almost immediately
recover though. The odd occasion would result in guests staying “Not
Responding” and me bouncing the VDSMD service again. The Host had a memory load
of around 85% (out of 768GB) and a CPU load of around 65% (48 cores). I have
since added another host to that cluster and spread the guests between the two
hosts. This seems to have totally cleared the messages (at least for the last 5
days anyway).

I suspect the problem is load related. At what capacity would Ovirt regard a
host as being ‘full’?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Could you please file a bug report?

Restart of vdsmd service would help to resolve the “executor queue full” state.

Hi,

Host server: Dell PowerEdge R815 (40 cores and 768GB memory)
Stoage: Dell Equallogic (Firmware V8.1.4)
OS: Centos 7.3 (although the same thing happens on 7.2)
Ovirt: 4.0.6.3-1

We have several Ovirt clusters. Two of the hosts (in separate clusters) are
showing as up in Hosted Engine but the guests running on them are showing as
Not Responding. I can connect to the guests via ssh, etc but can’t interact
with them from the Ovirt GUI. It was fine on Saturday (28th Jan) morning but
looks like something happened Sunday morning around 07:14 as we suddenly see
the following in engine.log on one host:

Re: [ovirt-users] node-ng update failed from ovirt-node-ng-4.1.0-0 to ovirt-node-ng-image-4.1.0-1, and NM + iscsi boo issue

2017-02-07 Thread Sergey Kulikov

There is no new lv, I can remove rpm and reinstall manually to reproduce with
any debug options, if you want.
I left host in maintenance mode.
should I also remove ovirt-node-ng-image ? I found something strange:
# rpm -q ovirt-node-ng-image
ovirt-node-ng-image-4.1.0-1.el7.centos.noarch

# rpm -ql ovirt-node-ng-image
/usr/share/ovirt-node-ng/image
/usr/share/ovirt-node-ng/image/ovirt-node-ng-4.1.0-0.20170201.0.el7.squashfs.img
/usr/share/ovirt-node-ng/image/product.img

version is 4.1.0-1, but squashfs file is 4.1.0-0

About iscsi... I've disabled NM in 4.0.6, everything was ok, it was re-enabled
only after update, I don't
think iscsi root affects NM status.
The problem is only with reboot, 1 time out of ~4 reboots it's falling to RO.
Also I have centos hosts and NM stays disabled there, maybe I should try
"unmanaged-devices="
in NM config, but I think it's not ideal, NM is useless for this setup)
