Also tried "dracut --force --add multipath --include /etc/multipath

Same results, the boot/os SSD is still a multipath device.

The SSD that is used boot/os will not get away from multipath even though it is
listed int blacklist.

I've also ran this cmd a few times, nothing has changed "dracut --force --add

Any ideas?

I think you need to copy /etc/multipath/conf.d/local.conf
into initrd, so multipathd will find it during early boot.

See
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/6/html/dm_multipath/mp_initramfs

Ben: does it work for /etc/multipath/conf.d/ drop-in files?

In fact if you have a look at the concerned storage domain, you can see your

We cannot upload an iso image to a data storage domain. We can upload an iso

So if you already have an iso storage domain, you must cancel and remove the
upload of your iso image to data storage domain (iSCSI),
after that, you can upload your iso image to your iso domain and i think for

I think for the best comprehension to all user, the web ui should inform us

[ 11.4] Converting PanOS release 2 (HDF) to run on KVM

I'm not sure what this is, except it seems to be derived from RHEL or
CentOS, but we don't usually support arbitrary guests, only the ones
listed in the manual:

  http://libguestfs.org/virt-v2v.1.html#support-matrix

If it's not in that list then it's pot luck whether it works.

In this case the actual failure is:

  virt-v2v: error: no bootloader detected

It's looking for a grub configuration file under /boot and doesn't
find one (out of grub.cfg, grub.conf or menu.lst). We need to find
the bootloader in order to determine what kernel can be booted and
sometimes to change the kernel to one which supports virtio.

You might want to try ovirt-image-uploader instead.

Rich.

Hi,

This was fixed in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1541924
in version 4.2.2.

I believe you can update manually the history_id field in tables -
vm_interface_daily_history, vm_interface_hourly_history,
vm_interface_samples_history
from integer to bigint and it should fix the issue, but I did not test on 4.1.

like in:

We hoped that we have a good way to blacklist local drives in EL 7.5
but it seems that we don't have such way yet. You have to manually
blacklist the devices.

The best way to do this is to add a new file in:
/etc/multipath/conf.d/local.conf

And put there:

blacklist {
wwid xxxyyy
wwid yyyzzz
}

Or many other options documented in:
See
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/7/html-single/dm_multipath/index#config_file_blacklist

You have to reload multipathd after that:

systemctl reload multipathd

If the devices are already used by the rest of the stack above
multipath I guess you will have to reboot.

We are tracking this issue in:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/1016535

[ovirt-users] cloud-init reverting static network settings to DHCP on shutdown and restart

2018-06-06 Thread geoff . carr
Setting static network settings in the "Initial Run" section works fine when
deploying a VM from template. When using "Run" to start the VM, customization
works as expected. On a reboot the network settings are maintained however if
the VM is shutdown and restarted the settings are reverted to DHCP. When
editing the VM the cloud-init settings are still set and a visible in the
"Initial Run" section.

cloud-init (0.7.9-24.el7.centos) - Previously 0.7.9-20.el7.centos but upgraded
to see if it would fix the issue.
oVirt engine (4.2.4.1-1.el7)
Guest OS (CentOS Linux release 7.4.1708)

There is another thread that reports exactly the same issue and behavior here: -

https://lists.ovirt.org/pipermail/users/2018-March/087860.html

Grateful for any thoughts or assistance.

No, things like zabbix_agent or snmpd are fine. You just don’t want anything
else to reboot a node the is under the control of an ovirt engine, leave the to
the engine.

Please keep it since vdsm could potentially try to rollback your network
configuration to its initial status if something is reported to be down for

[ovirt-users] Re: 4.2 Error importing VM, No more than one unmanaged USB controller is expected for a VM

2018-06-06 Thread Sharon Gratch
Hi,

We did add this warning on oVirt 4.1 for handling old USB configuration
(since in 4.1 we added a new USB policy of choosing USB controller
type as defined in osinfo-defaults.properties configuration).

But I'm not sure why this warning occurred after upgrading from 4.1 to 4.2.
Can you please send logs for analyzing (vdsm.log and engine.log)?

Anyway, for removing those un-managed USB controllers and create a new
managed one, you can try to:
1. Edit the vm -> go to "Console" tab ->
change the "USB Support" field value from "Disabled" to "Enabled" -> save the VM

2. And then change back to "Disabled" by:
edit the vm -> go to "Console" tab -> change the "USB Support" field
back to "Disabled" -> save the VM.

After doing that, you will see that a new plugged & managed USB
controller was created instead of old un-managed ones and the VM
should run.

Regards,

Sharon

Upstream QEMU builds against any librbd version that exports the
necessary APIs.

The choice of library versions is mostly up to distro package
maintainers.

Have you filed a bug against Ceph on the distro you are using?

Thanks for clearing this up Stefan.

Bernhard, can you give more info about your Linux version and
installed packages (.e.g qemu-*)?
Sure. I have two test-systems. The first is running a stock oVirt Node
4.3 which states "CentOS Linux release 7.5.1804 (Core)" as version
string. The qemu and ceph packages are:

Name: qemu-img-ev
Arch: x86_64
Epoch : 10
Version : 2.10.0
Release : 21.el7_5.3.1

Name: qemu-kvm-common-ev
Arch: x86_64
Epoch : 10
Version : 2.10.0
Release : 21.el7_5.3.1

Name: qemu-kvm-ev
Arch: x86_64
Epoch : 10
Version : 2.10.0
Release : 21.el7_5.3.1

Name: librados2
Arch: x86_64
Epoch : 1
Version : 0.94.5
Release : 2.el7

Name: librbd1
Arch: x86_64
Epoch : 1
Version : 0.94.5
Release : 2.el7

The Centos 7 system is a centos minimal installation with the following
repos being enabled:

CentOS-7 - Base
CentOS-7 - Updates
CentOS-7 - Extras
ovirt-4.2-epel
ovirt-4.2-centos-gluster123
ovirt-4.2-virtio-win-latest
ovirt-4.2-centos-qemu-ev
ovirt-4.2-centos-opstools
centos-sclo-rh-release
ovirt-4.2-centos-ovirt42
ovirt-4.2

The version numbers for the qemu packages are the same as above as
they're from the ovirt-4.2-centos-qemu-ev repository. Also the version
numbers for librados2 and librbd1 match, while they're from the
centos-base (instead of ovirt-base) repository.

When I activate the ceph-centos-luminous repository librbd1 and
librados2 get upgraded to the following versions (leaving the qemu
packages untouched, what is as expected):

Name: librados2
Arch: x86_64
Epoch : 2
Version : 12.2.5
Release : 0.el7

Name: librbd1
Arch: x86_64
Epoch : 2
Version : 12.2.5
Release : 0.el7

So from my perspective on side of oVirt there should be thaught about a
way to add a more recent ceph library version into the ovirt node image,
as it is not the most common task to add extra repositories here (and
I'm not whether that might break the image based upgrade-path).

I will go for Centos based hosts in my case, as I'm a bit more flexible
than so at least for me there is no real need to get the above noted
implemented quickly :-)

Bernhard

[ovirt-users] Re: oVirt 4.1 ETL service sampling has encounterd an error

2018-06-06 Thread Shirly Radco
In that case there is a workaround but I would recommend upgrading to 4.2
if you can.

I did not test the workaround:

You can add to /usr/share/ovirt-engine-dwh/packaging/dbscripts/upgrade/
a file called

04_01_0025__updated_vm_interface_history_id_to_bigint.sql

with the same content as in my patch:
_

-- Update vm_interface_* statistics table history_id to bigint

SELECT fn_db_change_column_type('vm_interface_daily_history', 'history_id',
'integer', 'bigint');
SELECT fn_db_change_column_type('vm_interface_hourly_history',
'history_id', 'integer', 'bigint');
SELECT fn_db_change_column_type('vm_interface_samples_history',
'history_id', 'integer', 'bigint');

_

and run engine-setup

engine-setup drops all views, makes the updates to the db and recreates the
views.

Hi,

I found the reason for my timeout problems: It is the version of librbd1
(which is 0.94.5) in conjunction with my CEPH test-environment which is
running the luminous release.
When I install the librbd1 (and librados2) packages from the
centos-ceph-luminous repository (version 12.2.5) I'm able to start and
migrate VMs inbetween the hosts.

vdsm does not require librbd since qemu brings this dependency, and vdsm
does not access ceph directly yet.

Maybe qemu should require newer version of librbd?

Upstream QEMU builds against any librbd version that exports the
necessary APIs.

The choice of library versions is mostly up to distro package
maintainers.

Have you filed a bug against Ceph on the distro you are using?
At least I didn't file a bug, as I'm not sure whether this might even
desired. And if supplying a newer version of librbd within the base
repository leads to problems with older clusters. The 0.94.5 version is
from the base repository (On Centos 7 and oVirt Node 4.3).

[ovirt-users] Backup VMs on oVirt 4.2+ with Disk image transfer

2018-06-06 Thread wodel youchi
Hi,

I am testing a product that can interface with oVirt API to backup VMs.

The product can use v3 API (for oVirt 3.5.1+) with a proxy VM on oVirt to
backup the VMs to the Export domain.

And it can use v4 API (for oVirt 4+) to backup VMs, and it offers two
methods for that :

   - for oVirt 4+ it can use Disk attachment mode, this mode uses a proxy
VM on oVirt to attach the snapshot of the VM to be backed-up, and then the
proxy VM can do the backup of the disk or communicate with an external
backup software. This mode offers only full backups (pretty similar to v3).

   - for oVirt 4.2+ it can use Disk image transfer, this mode does not need
a proxy VM, it exports data directly using the oVirt 4.2+ API to the backup
server, and uses snapshot-chains provided by the new RHV/oVirt, which make
it possible to have incremental VMs backups.

I cannot get any documentation about the later approach (Disk image
transfer), and my question is : what network does this approach uses to
transfer the backup stream, is it ovirtmgmt network since we're talking to
the API?

My concern is about the bandwidth of this network, especially when
backing-up huge and multiple VMs.

Regards.

Is there any instructions on how to run the script? I can't find any tables or

Hi,

This was fixed in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1541924
in version 4.2.2.

I believe you can update manually the history_id field in tables -
vm_interface_daily_history, vm_interface_hourly_history,
vm_interface_samples_history
from integer to bigint and it should fix the issue, but I did not test on 4.1.

like in:
https://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/87139/4/packaging/dbscripts/upgrade/04_02_0020__updated_vm_interface_history_id_to_bigint.sql
