[ovirt-users] Re: Managing multiple oVirt installs?

2018-09-11 Thread omprakashp
Hi,

I am also looking for the same. I want to install ManageIQ VM on hosted-engine
environment. I used the documents available on ManageIQ website, but I while
uploading the OVA, its saying “no valid VM config found”

Is there any other guide to launch ManageIQ as VM on Ovirt?

Brett,

Did you install ManageIQ in a vm?

What instructions or guides did you follow?

You need to provide the settings used in RAID controller in the gdeploy
config. gdeploy does not configure RAID, but uses the RAID settings to
optimize the lvm layout.

I just followed the ManageIQ guide linked in my previous message.

Uploaded the disk and attached it to a new VM (I checked the OS box to make
the disk bootable), added extra storage for the DB and launched the VM

You can try this.
1. Mark all your existing hosts in Maintenance
2.Go to Clusters -> select your cluster -> edit -> Mark 'Enable Gluster
Service'
3. Go to Host Window -> Click on Installation -> Reinstall
This should install gluster pacakges and enable gluster service in you
cluster

2018-09-11 Thread femi adegoke
I'm on oVirt 4.2.6.

1) If I have a Tesla P4 (Pascal) GPU (non-GRID), do I use nVidia vGPU driver
for RHEL KVM 6.2 or the Linux KVM vGPU 6.2 driver?

2) If I have a Grid K1 or K2, I assume the correct driver would be GRID 4.7?

3) Must the vGPU driver be installed on the host & in the vm?

4) Must the vGPU driver be installed first before I can run "yum -y install
vdsm-hook-vfio-mdev”

itf it’s not a GRID-capable card then you can only use GPU Passthrough (the
whole card) to the guest That doesn’t require any drivers, just a proper PCI
pasthrough capability and enablement in Host edit dialog (and some kernel
cmdline changes depending on your hw). It has nothing to do with mdev/vGPU then.

not sure what are the latest, whatever is on nvidia site as latest available
should work

for vGPU yes. Make sure you install the host one on host and guest driver to
the guest. it’s easy to mix it up.

no hooks required as of 4.2.6. Just skip that part

Florent,

Don't forget, you need 1 IP address, 192,168.176.x for the Hosted Engine.

This blog post is slightly dated, it still has a lot of relevant information.

2018-09-11 Thread Jayme
You do not need to define the gluster IPS or hostnames during the initial
deployment. You deploy first then you setup the gluster network after.
Serafh for the up and running with Ovirt 4.2 glusterfs guide, it's slightly
dated but goes over how to setup the separate gluster network.

[ovirt-users] Ovirt and gluster deployment - host name

2018-09-11 Thread florentl

Hello,
I want to deploy ovirt (hosted engine) and gluster on three servers. I
have thought about a configuration but I'm not sure that it's the most
suitable one.

All the servers have 2 ten gigabit Ethernet nic.
I read that, am besten,  I must dedicate one nic for the storage and
another one for the system.

So I will have two netnork address space :
- for the system : 192.168.176.0/24 with a gateway configured
- for the storage : 10.255.255.0/24 without a gateway

Inside my hosts file on all the server I will have :
192.168.176.1 server1
192.168.176.2 server2
192.168.176.3 server3
10.255.255.1 gluster1
10.255.255.2 gluster2
10.255.255.3 gluster2

When I start the gluster deployment I will use gluster1, gluster2 and
gluster3 name. And after the gluster deployment during  the
hyperconverged setup I will use server1, server2 and server3 name.

May I have your opinion about this deployment  ?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Nice to see this Simone, thanks.
I'm reading the info to try on an hosted engine setup and find this:
"
This role has be designed to be run only against the machine
where ovirt-engine is running.
 "
Does it mean that I have to run the ansible-playbook command from an
external server and use as host in inventory the engine server, or does it
mean that the ansible-playbook command is to be run from within the server
where the ovirt-engine service is running and so keep intact the lines
inside the smple yal file:
"
- name: oVirt shutdown environment
  hosts: localhost
  connection: local
"

Thanks,
Gianluca

[ovirt-users] LDAP authentication does not work after engine upgrade to ovirt 4.6

I've just upgraded our ovirt engine server to ovirt 4.6 and it appears
that LDAP logins no longer work.  When I attempt to log in using an AD

I have not changed any LDAP settings and ldapsearch is able to find this

this?

2018-09-11 Thread Michael Watters
For those wondering, I was able to fix this by running
ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap-setup and setting the CA certificate
method to "Insecure".

> Please select method to obtain PEM encoded CA certificate (File, URL,
Inline, System, Insecure): Insecure

I was previously using "System" but that does not work despite our
internal CA being installed as a trusted certificate authority.

[ovirt-users] icons for custom defined OS

2018-09-11 Thread Matthias Leopold

Hi,

I defined additional operating systems in my oVirt 4.2.6 installation
according to
https://www.ovirt.org/develop/release-management/features/virt/os-info/.
Now i want to have custom default icons for use in VM portal for these
new OS definitions. How can i do this? I only found a way to change the
icon as individual VM portal user, this is nice, but not exactly what i
want.

thx
matthias

You would need three servers for gluster based hyperconverged oVirt
deployment.

I know about this bug, but this is not what I 've experienced. The virtual
