Hi Sahina,
I think the addition of storage domain may be missing? Gobinda?
Yes, For Single node deployment, auto add storage domain is missing. I will
add it.

The quick answer is that operations in %post must be performed before
'nodectl init'. If that's done, they'll happily stick.

[ovirt-users] Windows 10 VM Virtio Drivers

2019-01-16 Thread Sebastian Antunez N.
Hello Guys

In my enviroment Ovirt 4.2 when create a new VM with Windows 10, in the
boot options menu, add the Floppy Disk for mount virtio driver but only
show me sysprep.

I check in my ISO Folder and show all vfd drivers for Windows and ISO but I
can not add the drivers who floppy.

This problem only is with Windows VM.

Any idea because this is issue.

[ovirt-users] Re: migrate hosted-engine vm to another cluster?

2019-01-16 Thread Alex McWhirter
I second this, it's one of the reasons i really dislike hosted engine. I
also see a need for active / passive engine clones to exist perhaps even
across multiple datacenters. Hosted engine tries to be similar to
VMWare's VCenter appliance, but falls short in the HA department. The
best you can get is that engine will restart on another node should it's
current node fail. When people ask me hosted vs baremetal engine, i
almost always advocate for baremetal if there's enough rack space as
there are just too many way's i've seen hosted engine become a brick.

FWIW, we run baremetal engine with drbd, pacemaker, and corosync across
a few machines in an active / passive setup. This has been by far the
most reliable way we've seen to HA the engine. We have these machines
spread out over a few different DC's with pacemaker triggering routing
changes to ensure it's always available. Certainly not the easiest way
to do it, but i have yet to see a better solution.

[ovirt-users] Re: migrate hosted-engine vm to another cluster?

2019-01-16 Thread Ryan Barry
Re-raising this for discussion.

As I commented on the bug, Hosted Engine is such a special use case in
terms of setup, configuration, and migration that I'm not sure engine
itself is the right place to handle this. We have the option of changing
the ha broker|agent to use the engine API to initiate migrations, but
there's still a risk that the hosts in the secondary cluster will not be
able to reach the storage, etc.

It would be great to get this resolved if there's not currently a way to do
it, but we need to decide on a long-term direction for it. Currently, HE
can run on additional hosts in the datacenter as an emergency fallback, but
it reverts once the HE cluster is back out of maintenance. My ideal would
be to extend the hosted-engine utility with an additional parameter which
reaches out to the Engine API in order to handle the needed database
updates after some safety checks (probably over ansible) to ensure that the
HE storage domain is reachable from hosts in the other cluster.

But I'm not a hosted engine expert. Is there currently a way to do this? If
there isn't, do we want to add additional logic to ha agent|broker, or
reach out to the Engine?

so hosted engine not using libgfapi?
Also, on hosted engine

[root@hciengine ~]# engine-config -g LibgfApiSupported
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 4.1
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 4.2
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 4.3

Does this mean it was not solved yet?
If I remember correctly the bugzilla was this one related to HA:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1484227
that is still in new status since almost 2 years

Is this the only one open?

There are even more links than I mentioned above and also others confused by

https://lists.ovirt.org/pipermail/users/2018-January/086116.html

I'm still looking for an answer here - do I shut down my existing hosted VM and
follow:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1409112#c12 ?

will I need to provision this on a new piece of metal that will be added to the
stack?

Hi all,
I have a host with 2 M60 with the latest supported driver installed,
and working as you can see:

Hi, all looks fine and the same as on my setup, which is working.

How about kernel command line (cat /proc/cmdline)?  It's important to
have intel_iommu=on there (assuming an Intel machine).

[...]

Is it possible that the package vdsm-hook-vfio-mdev is needed? As far
as I understand it is already deprecated, but I cannot find anything
on the documentation.

The hook is no longer needed nor should be installed.

Milan

My only need at this time is to install the same iso on 2 additional hosts
configured with the same hw: 1x60Gb disk for os and 1x100Gb for Gluster,
and add them to the infra so that I will have the same volumes with the
same size, but distributed on the three nodes, without interruption of
service from current config.
One of the two additional nodes will work as arbiter

Thanks,
Gianluca

I think the addition of storage domain may be missing? Gobinda?

You can add the additional hosts via engine, and expand the volume.
The bricks are laid out differently - as there's no option to create
multiple bricks on engine UI. We did have an expand volume planned in
the gluster management dashboard in Cockpit, I don't recollect if it
made it to 4.3.

[ovirt-users] oVirt 4.3 RC2 test on single host HCI --> OK

2019-01-16 Thread Gianluca Cecchi
Just tested what in subject on a vm (so it has been a nested env)
configured with 2 disks: 1x60Gb for OS and 1x100Gb for gluster.
Used node ng from ovirt-node-ng-installer-4.3.0-2019011608.el7.iso and
almost all the problems had with RC1 here:
https://www.mail-archive.com/users@ovirt.org/msg52870.html
have gone solved.
The hosted engine deploy completed successfully and I'm able to access
engine web admin and see the VM and its storage domain and connect to
console.

The only persisting problem is that I choose JBOD in my disk config
(because I have only one disk) and the deploy gives error about missing
diskcount parameter in ansible playbook, so I have to edit the gdeploy conf
file from the gui and add the section

[diskcount]
1

after that all goes well.
Good job guys!

BTW: is it correct hat for data and vmstore I only have the volumes
configured, while I have to manullay create storage domains?

If I want to extend this initial configuration to 3 nodes, what would be
the installation path to execute?

Thanks,
Gianluca

Hi Roy,

I'm currently working on some redesign efforts around the website and can
take that into account a comment section as a feature to include in the
blog since I agree that it is a pretty standard feature to have on a
community blog.

Best,
Laura

Hi Milan,
I have re-deployed the server and now is booting with:

[root@esxh-03 ~]# cat /proc/cmdline
BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-3.10.0-957.1.3.el7.x86_64
root=/dev/mapper/centos_esxh--03-root ro nofb splash=quiet
crashkernel=auto rd.lvm.lv=centos_esxh-03/root
rd.lvm.lv=centos_esxh-03/swap rhgb quiet nouveau.modeset=0 intel_iommu=on

But still not able to see mdev:

[root@esxh-03 ~]# vdsm-client Host hostdevListByCaps | grep -i mdev
[root@esxh-03 ~]#

Do you have any other idea about what could be going on?

Cheers.

Yes, I'm able to upload iso also to 4.2 engine.
