Re: [Users] Adding LIO iSCSI target as storage fails
Hi again, Having fixed LUNs and LUN_storage_server_connection_map tables varchar sizes, adding my LIO storage is OK as expected. create_tables.sql script should be fixed. What's more, when the error happened, ovirt got in inconsistent state : -the LUN appeared in ovirt but was locked. Trying to destroy it did nothing in the GUI. Engine logged Failed to Acquire Lock to object EngineLock. After a while, the LUN disappeared by itself. Ovirt should handle the exception correctly (by totally refusing the LUN registration) and outputting an explicit message (instead of error 503) could be nice. Does anyone have an idea how to efficiently share VM templates between multiple datacenters which use local storages for VM images? I tried two methods: 1. Add another cluster to local storage datacenter which failed with oVirt error that this isn't allowed 2. Tried to create new NFS data domain but this isn't possible because oVirt interface allows me to create only NFS export or NFS ISO domains (not data domain) So every time when I would like to use some template in other datacenter, I have to export it to export domain and then import it in other datacenter. This isn't optimal way because templates are duplicated over datacenters. Duplication causes problems - when I want to update template, I must update it and copy to all datacenters again. And, of course, duplicated templates consume disk space. how did you envision doing this without consuming disk space? a shared NFS domain for the templates? Exactly. To be more precise, I imagine either NFS/Fibre Channel/iSCSI should be possible. However as I wrote above, I'm unable to create NFS data domain when datacenter uses local storage. true, this is still a limitation we need to resolve (and plan to), but not immediate Ok, thanks for clarification. Regards, A Non-oVirt solution, when I manually export part of local storage of one datacenter with templates via NFS and then mount it in other datacenters is also ok but I'm not sure if it will work. ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users

[Users] trying to change web root for engine
Hi all, I'm trying to change the root of the engine applications to something like /ovirt/. I updated those files, but it's not enough: - /usr/share/ovirt-engine/engine.ear/META-INF/application.xml (all context-root) - /etc/httpd/conf.d/ovirt-engine.conf (roxyPass /ovirt/) The welcome portal is at site/ovirt/ and working correctly. The links go to site//ovirt/UserPortal, etc, but nothing happens: just a blank page. If I change the url to https it's the same: blank page. Can someone help me with this? I updated those files, but it's not enough: - /usr/share/ovirt-engine/engine.ear/META-INF/application.xml (all context-root) - /etc/httpd/conf.d/ovirt-engine.conf (roxyPass /ovirt/) The welcome portal is at site/ovirt/ and working correctly. The links go to site//ovirt/UserPortal, etc, but nothing happens: just a blank page. If I change the url to https it's the same: blank page. Can someone help me with this? Best regards, Cristian falcas I don't think this is really supported, there are some services that assumes all applications are at root. Especially the ovirt-node. I think this is planned to be changed at release 4.0. You can create redirect from /ovirt to / but I don't think that this is what you want. We introduced that error in a attempt to fix bug 876164. The fix will be merged soon: http://gerrit.ovirt.org/9369 Meanwhile the workaround is to manually create those directories and make sure they are owned by the ovirt user and the ovirt group: mkdir -p /var/lib/ovirt-engine/content chown ovirt:ovirt /var/lib/ovirt-engine/content mkdir -p /var/lib/ovirt-engine/deployments chown ovirt:ovirt /var/lib/ovirt-engine/deployments The other error messages that you see are not relevant, I think you can ignore them. But until recently it was working also without any modifications on apache. Using the apache as front-end is the recommended configuration. Next version it will be the only supported configuration as far as I know. Alon In this case, I think that the overwrite http should not be asked during engine-setup, maybe just inform the user about the changes that will be done. i mean that it should write the configuration without user approval. I think that it is good that we warn user, there may be some configurations in which user has some specific httpd.conf, and would like to do the changes manually. I hope that in version 4.0 we won't overwrite the httpd.conf at all (not mandatory anyway), so installation will be much less intrusive.
