We might have two issues involved here (qcow2 case):

as far as I know the ovirt-engine-3.3 branch is in a good state now with

be merged soon) and I expect to have a much more stable import for qcow2
 in the upcoming 3.3.1.

Re: [Users] ComputeNode installation failed ovirt 3.3

2013-10-10 Thread Sven Kieske
Hi,

can nobody shed some light on this?
This is reproducible, we always get the exact same error during this
command:

[org.ovirt.engine.core.utils.ssh.SSHDialog] (pool-6-thread-32) SSH
stderr during command root@10.0.1.4:'umask 0077; MYTMP=$(mktemp -t
ovirt-XX); trap chmod -R u+rwX \${M

omization=bool:True': stderr: bash: line 1: 8635 Segmentation fault
  ${MYTMP}/setup DIALOG/dialect=str:machine DIALOG/customization=bool:True

it's an segmentation fault, so it seems to me there must be a bug
hiding somewhere.

Can anyone confirm to me that what I try to do is supported and/or
works?

Adding a 2.6.1 oVirt-Node to an 3.3.0-4.el6 Management Node?

We are really stuck at this point.

This error always shows up when trying to acknowledge the node
through the webadmin UI, after registration.

It must be related to the 2.6.1 node.

 Question:

Is there a way to set the webadmin to only use NoVNC as a default for the
console? Since the devs decided to remove the popup window and only
download a file, it added several steps for me to be able to look at the
console on my Mac. There isn't a packaged viewer for spice on OSX as of yet
and every time I have tried to get it installed it fails. So, my only
option is VNC of which there are none that will open the .vv files.

 did you try http://www.spice-space.org/page/OSX_Client ?

for VNC - associate the .vv with a TextEdit or something similar, and do
copypaste of credentails as you were doing from the popup

for noVNC, well, it's a per user and browser setting (for all VMs), but no
easy way how to set it in advance for many users. There is a global option
for SPICE to select either plugin or .vv, but that doesn't appl to the new
browser-only clinets. But that should be relatively easy to implement…Franta?

No,

we installed the 2.6.1 Node via CD/ISO over Network and this error
occurs after registration to the management server, when you try to
acknowledge the host via webadmin UI.

The Datacenter has no ISO-Domain at this point in the setup.
Is this a problem?

I noticed this error in the log, but it shouldn't affect acknowledging
a host, should it?

[Users] [3.3] Rebooted node losing its network setup

2013-10-10 Thread Nicolas Ecarnot

Hello,

After a successful 3.1 setup, I'm starting a completely new 3.3 environment.

I installed a CentOS 6.4 for the manager with a 3.3 oVirt engine.
For the nodes, on Dell M620 blades, I installed
ovirt-node-iso-3.0.1-1.0.2.vdsm.el6.iso.

I setup a blade like this :
- first two interfaces bonded + bridge dedicated to ovirt managment network
- 4 next interfaces bonded + bridge dedicated to the iSCSI pure copper lan

(I've setup this exaclty same env. on my previous oVirt 3.1 setup and it
is working fine)

Once I've configured that correctly on 3 nodes, I reboot (or stonith)
the first node, to prove this is stable.

I get various effects :
- sometimes the bonding dedicated to the iscsi lan is lost (no more
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-bond1 neither ifcfg-ovirtiscsi files)
- sometimes the bonding dedicated to the ovirtmgmt part is lost or
changed : the bonding mode I have set to 1 (active-backup) is replaced
by mode 0 (balance-rr) (which leads to other local network issues)
- during reboot, I see bnx2fs issues : before them, pings to this node
are OK (mode 1), after them, ping to this node get DUPs (mode 0)

This is very tiresome to see that such a simple thing as bonding and
bridging are things I keep losing time on.
Using command line on the node, I'm able to correct everything, but
nothing is reboot-proof though I don't know what is causing those changes.

I'm sure I tried nothing exotic when first installing the node. I just
used the TUI and made a very simple bonding with no VLAN.
Even when trying to concentrate only on the ovirtmgmt bond oVirt can't
seem to be stable.

What should I look now?

Hey Sven,

as said on IRC, I'd recommend to try a draft build form [0], they
contain some fixes for the 3.0 branch.
2.6. might be to old and not contain all the stuff that is needed by
engines setup script.

To me it's a black box what's happening inside setup.

Re: [Users] ComputeNode installation failed ovirt 3.3

2013-10-10 Thread Sven Kieske
Hi,

just in case someone else runs into the same problem.

We were able to workaround this by using an alternate draft-iso image
kindly provided by fabian:

http://fedorapeople.org/~fabiand/node/ovirt-node-iso-3.0.1-1.0.201310020841draft.vdsm.el6.iso

if you want the fedora version it's:

http://fedorapeople.org/~fabiand/node/ovirt-node-iso-3.1.0-0.999.201310020841draft.vdsm.fc19.iso

We didn't test the fedora version.

This iso registers completly with Mangement 3.3 on the same host, no
more segfaults :-)

A big thank you goes out to fabian, who helped me debugging this.

Hi,

this sounds to me as if you are running into the
dns-rewrites-whole-network-config-bug fixed here:

http://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/19705/

maybe (I'm not sure if this got merged in 3.3.0.1 node)?

My advise would be to use as node CentOS minimal with ovirt repo, as
3.3.0.1 node seems not to be _that_ stable. Or wait for node 3.3.0.2
which should be out soon (TM ;) )

The CentOS setup for the node works really fine for us, so you might
give it a try.

I'm not sure, though, if it supports .vv file…maybe Christophe knows…

It partially supports .vv files, if you run it from a terminal passing it a
.vv file, then it will be used. However, to be able to directly open files
loaded from the web browser, a bit of code is needed (I think this is what
is described there

A vdsm bug (BZ#1007980) made it impossible to migrate or re-run a VM
with a glusterfs-backed virtual disk if the VM was originally started
 with an empty cdrom.

If you have encountered this bug, you would have to manually find the
 affected VMs with

 psql -U engine -d engine -c select distinct vm_name from vm_static,
vm_device where vm_guid=vm_id and device='cdrom' and address ilike
 '%pci%';

and remove their junk cdrom address with

 psql -U engine -d engine -c update vm_device set address='' where
 device='cdrom' and address ilike '%pci%';

We are currently building vdsm-4.12.1-4 that is carrying a new critical
fix related to drive resize (extension). Release notes:

A vdsm bug introduced in a specific case of disk resize (raw on nfs)
accidentally wipes the content of the virtual disk.
The issue was masked on the master (and ovirt-3.3) branch by an unrelated
change that happened to fix the problem leaving only vdsm-4.12 affected.
It is of critical importance to update all your machines to the new vdsm
release.

c) the name of our SD does not contain any spaces
d) the bug entry mentions this bug only occurs via api

however how can I check if the postgres db doesn't contain any other

or does the api call I did via web already show there are no other
storage domains left in the db?

add another data center with local storage, try to add another
 master storage domain.

expected result: the data domain gets created just like the 2 before

actual result: ovirt management complains that the data domain
already exists, which is not true.

This behaviour was introduced with version 3.3, we didn't see this
 in version 3.2

This is regardless of node versions.

I would at first like to know if anybody can reproduce this?

If this is the case I would create a bugzilla entry.

2013-10-10 Thread emi...@gmail.com
Hi Liron, I've deleted everything, because I couldn't find anything about
how to recover this, I think that what happened was a split brain problem
in gluster which didn't let me access to the datastore.
Now I'm trying to implement oVirt 3.2, sorry I can't continue testing the
3.3 version. With 3.2 I'll lose some features with gluster but at least
it's much more stable right now.

I tried to add another one for host 4, by putting the host into

When you click then ok in the popup you get the error:

can't add storage connection, connection already exists

So it means that you have a storage connection which is not used by any
storage domain. One thing is how it was created (I suppose a duplicate
of aforementioned bug), the other - how to fix it.

Fix:
* GET https://[your-rhevm-setup]/api/storageconnections
* find id of the problematic connection
* DELETE
https://[your-rhevm-setup]/api/storageconnections/[id_of_the_connection]

Last step perform with cURL or REST Client for Firefox or whatever is
your favourite tool for REST API.

The bugzilla entry seems not to fit as this is:
a) no NFS Storage Domain

Doesn't matter, it may happen for any non-iSCSI (and maybe non-FC)
storage, localfs duplicate here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1014966

b) no Export Storage Domain

Doesn't matter, I've seen it for data domains as well.
Here you have duplicate for ISO:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=991739

c) the name of our SD does not contain any spaces

Doesn't matter, the only important thing is if you ever tried to add
this domain and the command failed.

d) the bug entry mentions this bug only occurs via api
because the webfrontend doesn't allow to create SDs with spaces

however how can I check if the postgres db doesn't contain any other
storage domains, just to make 110% sure this is not this bug?

You don't have additional storage domain, you have only additional
storage connection. That's why I asked also for output of
api/storageconnections

  yeah !

Since libvirt has been using this port range first, would you open a
bug on gluster to avoid it?

Dan. (prays that Vdsm is not expected to edit libvirt's migration port
 range on installation)

If it makes you feel better, you can't even do that :-) Unfortunately,
the port range used for migration is hard-coded in libvirt. And since we
don't use port allocator yet (patches are in progress), we don't
automatically avoid ports that are already taken. All this is going to
change, though.

Re: [Users] Change SPM manually, forcing the operation.

2013-10-10 Thread Dafna Ron
automatic spm re-election should happen when the host is in a
non-operational state which means the storage is inaccessible from the
spm but engine can still reach the vdsm.
In your case, from what you put in this mail, I can see that the host is
non-responsive which means that engine cannot reach the host at all and
so a new spm will not be re-elected and this is to avoid possible data
corruption.

selection.

If you have power management configured the system will automatically
try to reboot the spm and a new one will be elected. if you do not have
power management configured but you are sure that the host has been
rebooted and there are not running vms on it you can use the confirm
host has been rebooted button and release the spm.

Please note that if the host has not been rebooted this can cause data
corruption so do reboot the host...

Basically in cases where the SPM host is in problem there should be triggered
an automatic flow which selects another one in the cluster, do you recall if
the old SPM host had running tasks prior to failing?

Subject: [Users] Change SPM manually, forcing the operation.

Hello everyone,

I' new in oVirt and I tried to do some tests, and one is simulate the failed of
one host.

This host, which is go off, is the actual SPM and I want to change manually to
a second host that is in the same cluster.

When I tried change from web tool the server face me this pup up:

Error while executing action ForceSelectSPM: Error connecting to the Storage
Pool Manager service.
Possible reasons:
- Storage Pool Manager service is in non-active state.
- No Active Host in the Data Center.

And this message from engine.log:
