Re: [Users] ComputeNode installation failed ovirt 3.3
Hi, can nobody shed some light on this? This is reproducible, we always get the exact same error during this command: [org.ovirt.engine.core.utils.ssh.SSHDialog] (pool-6-thread-32) SSH stderr during command root@10.0.1.4:'umask 0077; MYTMP=$(mktemp -t ovirt-XX); trap chmod -R u+rwX \${M YTMP}\ /dev/null 21; rm -fr \${MYTMP}\ /dev/null 21 0; rm -fr ${MYTMP} mkdir ${MYTMP} tar --warning=no-timestamp -C ${MYTMP} -x ${MYTMP}/setup DIALOG/dialect=str:machine DIALOG/cust omization=bool:True': stderr: bash: line 1: 8635 Segmentation fault ${MYTMP}/setup DIALOG/dialect=str:machine DIALOG/customization=bool:True it's an segmentation fault, so it seems to me there must be a bug hiding somewhere. Can anyone confirm to me that what I try to do is supported and/or works? Adding a 2.6.1 oVirt-Node to an 3.3.0-4.el6 Management Node? We are really stuck at this point. This error always shows up when trying to acknowledge the node through the webadmin UI, after registration. No, we installed the 2.6.1 Node via CD/ISO over Network and this error occurs after registration to the management server, when you try to acknowledge the host via webadmin UI. The Datacenter has no ISO-Domain at this point in the setup. Is this a problem? I noticed this error in the log, but it shouldn't affect acknowledging a host, should it? [Users] [3.3] Rebooted node losing its network setup
Hello, After a successful 3.1 setup, I'm starting a completely new 3.3 environment. I installed a CentOS 6.4 for the manager with a 3.3 oVirt engine. For the nodes, on Dell M620 blades, I installed ovirt-node-iso-3.0.1-1.0.2.vdsm.el6.iso. I setup a blade like this : - first two interfaces bonded + bridge dedicated to ovirt managment network - 4 next interfaces bonded + bridge dedicated to the iSCSI pure copper lan (I've setup this exaclty same env. on my previous oVirt 3.1 setup and it is working fine) Once I've configured that correctly on 3 nodes, I reboot (or stonith) the first node, to prove this is stable. I get various effects : - sometimes the bonding dedicated to the iscsi lan is lost (no more /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-bond1 neither ifcfg-ovirtiscsi files) - sometimes the bonding dedicated to the ovirtmgmt part is lost or changed : the bonding mode I have set to 1 (active-backup) is replaced by mode 0 (balance-rr) (which leads to other local network issues) - during reboot, I see bnx2fs issues : before them, pings to this node are OK (mode 1), after them, ping to this node get DUPs (mode 0) This is very tiresome to see that such a simple thing as bonding and bridging are things I keep losing time on. Using command line on the node, I'm able to correct everything, but nothing is reboot-proof though I don't know what is causing those changes. I'm sure I tried nothing exotic when first installing the node. I just used the TUI and made a very simple bonding with no VLAN. Even when trying to concentrate only on the ovirtmgmt bond oVirt can't seem to be stable. Re: [Users] ComputeNode installation failed ovirt 3.3
Hi, just in case someone else runs into the same problem. We were able to workaround this by using an alternate draft-iso image kindly provided by fabian: http://fedorapeople.org/~fabiand/node/ovirt-node-iso-3.0.1-1.0.201310020841draft.vdsm.el6.iso if you want the fedora version it's: http://fedorapeople.org/~fabiand/node/ovirt-node-iso-3.1.0-0.999.201310020841draft.vdsm.fc19.iso We didn't test the fedora version. Hi, this sounds to me as if you are running into the dns-rewrites-whole-network-config-bug fixed here: http://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/19705/ maybe (I'm not sure if this got merged in 3.3.0.1 node)? My advise would be to use as node CentOS minimal with ovirt repo, as 3.3.0.1 node seems not to be _that_ stable. Or wait for node 3.3.0.2 which should be out soon (TM ;) ) The CentOS setup for the node works really fine for us, so you might give it a try. If you have encountered this bug, you would have to manually find the affected VMs with psql -U engine -d engine -c select distinct vm_name from vm_static, vm_device where vm_guid=vm_id and device='cdrom' and address ilike '%pci%'; and remove their junk cdrom address with psql -U engine -d engine -c update vm_device set address='' where device='cdrom' and address ilike '%pci%'; We are currently building vdsm-4.12.1-4 that is carrying a new critical fix related to drive resize (extension). Release notes: A vdsm bug introduced in a specific case of disk resize (raw on nfs) accidentally wipes the content of the virtual disk. The issue was masked on the master (and ovirt-3.3) branch by an unrelated change that happened to fix the problem leaving only vdsm-4.12 affected. It is of critical importance to update all your machines to the new vdsm release. -- Federico ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users

Re: [Users] Broken Main Datastore Gluster
Hi Liron, I've deleted everything, because I couldn't find anything about how to recover this, I think that what happened was a split brain problem in gluster which didn't let me access to the datastore. Now I'm trying to implement oVirt 3.2, sorry I can't continue testing the 3.3 version. With 3.2 I'll lose some features with gluster but at least it's much more stable right now. Here you have duplicate for ISO: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=991739 c) the name of our SD does not contain any spaces Doesn't matter, the only important thing is if you ever tried to add this domain and the command failed. d) the bug entry mentions this bug only occurs via api because the webfrontend doesn't allow to create SDs with spaces however how can I check if the postgres db doesn't contain any other storage domains, just to make 110% sure this is not this bug? You don't have additional storage domain, you have only additional storage connection. Re: [Users] Change SPM manually, forcing the operation.
automatic spm re-election should happen when the host is in a non-operational state which means the storage is inaccessible from the spm but engine can still reach the vdsm. In your case, from what you put in this mail, I can see that the host is non-responsive which means that engine cannot reach the host at all and so a new spm will not be re-elected and this is to avoid possible data corruption. 2013-10-10 08:16:34,385 WARN [org.ovirt.engine.core.vdsbroker.irsbroker.IrsBrokerCommand] (DefaultQuartzScheduler_Worker-11) spm vds is non responsive, stopping spm selection. If you have power management configured the system will automatically try to reboot the spm and a new one will be elected. if you do not have power management configured but you are sure that the host has been rebooted and there are not running vms on it you can use the confirm host has been rebooted button and release the spm. Please note that if the host has not been rebooted this can cause data corruption so do reboot the host...
