I’m not the networking team, but I did change the IP of my engine and kept the
same FQDN, and it seems to be fine :)

Re: [ovirt-users] VLAN with one NIC

2015-09-04 Thread Chris Liebman
If your sharing a physical interface with both tagged and untagged traffic
they don't allow VM's on the untagged link. I believe this is because some
earlier versions of the bridging code in the kernel would allow pass the
tagged traffic to VM's located on the untagged interface. That being a
security issue.

Re: [ovirt-users] VLAN with one NIC

2015-09-04 Thread gregor
Thanks, now I can use the eth0 to connect to the web-interface and the
logical vlan network to use in a VM but I can't use the untagged VLAN1
in the VM. When I add a new logical network without VLAN tagging the
web-interface returns "Cannot have more than one non-VLAN network on one
interface."

When I create a logical network with taggged ID 1 I can't connect from a
VM to my VLAN1.

So I have to find a way to created the following networks:
- ovirtmgmt: without tagged vlan for managing -> works
- vlan1: without tagged vlan for the VM's to connect to my default
network -> currently no solution
- vlan10: tagged vlan with id 10 -> works

cheers
gregor

You have to edit the ovirtgmt network and un-check the "VM Network" box:

I just saw this :} - thanks for the tip.

I will thank Geert later on :}

Will let everyone know when I post the blueprint…

Thanks

Kyle
There’s 2 small issues that you need to work around:

Due to an issue with the the user-mode CPU detection in libvirt, this patch
 needs to be applied to
/usr/share/libvirt/cpu_map.xml. This patch forces the CPU type to be an Opteron
G2 independent of the CPUID. To apply this patch, log on to the hypervisor in
rescue mode
,
apply the patch, and then issue the command “persist
/usr/share/libvirt/cpu_map.xml”. This needs to be done after step 8 above.
I ran into a small bug where the installation of the bootloader would run into
a legacy SYSCALL instruction. The fix will be deployed soon. In the mean time,
if the VM crashes when the installer is installing the bootloader, you should
delay step #4 until after step #8.

[ovirt-users] Problem with kerberos authentication and ovirt-engine-sdk-python

2015-09-04 Thread 79160810031
Hello. I have problem with kerberos authentication. I use
ovirt-engine-sdk-python from https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine-sdk.git.

I have RHEL manager and IPA server.

I created a virtual machine and installed RedHat 7.0 on the vm.
I did command ipa-client-install on this vm. Command id diplayed a valid value
for user admin.
I got with wget ca.crt file from manager.

When I executed following commands:
api = API(url="https://rhevm.dev.ru/ovirt-engine/api";, username="ad...@dev.ru",
password="something", ca_file = "/tmp/ca.crt")
that's all correct. I got api and I could use this api.

Then:
I cloned git repo
git clone https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine-sdk.git
created ovirt-engine-sdk-python rpm with kerberos authentication support.
make rpm
installed this package on my vm.
rpm -ihv ovirt-engine-sdk-python-4.0.0.0-0.1.el7.noarch.rpm
I got kerberos ticket:
kinit admin
klist displayed that is valid ticket.
And when I executed following commands:
api = API(url="https://rhevm.dev.ru/ovirt-engine/api";, kerberos = True, ca_file
= "/tmp/ca.crt")
I got error 401 Unauthorized.

Is what is incorrect?

[ovirt-users] VLAN with one NIC

2015-09-04 Thread gregor
Hi,

is it possible to use different VLAN with one NIC in ovirt?

I can not add a logical network configured as VLAN to my ovirtmgmt
interface, I get "Cannot have a non-VLAN VM network and VLAN-tagged
networks on one interface."

The setup for the Port is a trunk of different tagged VLAN's and the
default VLAN1 is untagged. Normally this work under centos where I give
the nic eth0 an IP and create a nic eth0.10 for the VLAN with ID 10 and
set an IP for it.

Opteron G1 is the first supported AMD processor
do you really have such an ancient thing or is it mis-detected?

Re: [ovirt-users] Problem with kerberos authentication and ovirt-engine-sdk-python

2015-09-04 Thread Ondra Machacek

Hi,

maybe I am wrong, but I think you didn't properly setup your ovirt to
support kerberos.
You have to use new AAA, do you use it? It's not working with legacy
manage-domains.

Please see these[1][2] links.

Hi,

I guess this will be available only in 3.6, see[1].
You can probably use pre-release of the sdk for now.

[ovirt-users] adding host in ovirt issues

2015-09-04 Thread Kyle Bassett
Hi, I am working on getting overt working on ravellosystems. I want to post to
repo and share with the community at some point.

When I try to add a host I keep getting this error:

Host's Cluster Compatibility Version doesn't match the Cluster's Compatibility
Version.
The CPU type showing on the host is: AMD Athlon(tm) Processor*

I have tried compatibility version 3.5 and 3.0 (both say the same thing).

What SPU Type should the cluster be configured with? AMD Opteron G1?

I use Ravello for openstack but having issues with Ovirt - could it be due to
the fact that there is no CPU type Athlon?

Thanks
Kyle

[ovirt-users] Get involved in oVirt project! Autumn edition

2015-09-04 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi,
Autumn is coming and with it will come the next 3.6.0 release and will
start the next major release cycle.
Have you got some free time and do you want to get involved in oVirt
project?

Do you like the idea of having fresh disk images of recent distribution in
oVirt Glance repository?
You can help us by testing existing online images (like
https://getfedora.org/en/cloud/download/) ensuring they works with
cloud-init
or creating one yourself and report your success to de...@ovirt.org.
We'll be happy to upload the images once these are ready.

Do you like Debian and do you have some programming skill?
Help us getting VDSM running on it! We started releasing highly
experimental packages and it's a good time for giving them a try.
You can follow the progress here: http://www.ovirt.org/VDSM_on_Debian

To have a valid quorum having the system being able to decide witch is the
right and safe copy avoiding an issue called split brain.
Under certain circumstances/issues (network issue, hosts down or whatever
could happen) the data on different replica could diverge: if you have two
and just two different hosts that claim each other that its copy is the
right one there is no way to automatically take the right decision. Having
three hosts and setting the quorum according to that solves/mitigates the
issue.
