Re: [ovirt-users] Contribute with Ovirt

2015-11-01 Thread Barak Korren
Hi Somnash,

Since you describe yourself as a 'Linux Admin' I was wondering if you will
be interested in joining the oVirt infra team.
The oVirt infra team deals with maintaining the infrastructure that is used
by the oVirt community to work and collaborate on the oVrit project.
The infrastructure mainly consists of oVirts Jenkins-based CI and build
system as well as other services such as the source code repositories, the
package repositories, the wiki and the mailing lists.
Participation in the infra team does require some amount of dedication and
perseverance, as infra issues are not as easy to abandon as code patches
are...
You can find more (slightly outdated) information about the infra team
here: http://www.ovirt.org/Infra
Please don't hesitate to contact the infra mailing list if you want to join
up, we will be very happy to have you on board.

Regards,
Barak Korren,
oVirt infra.

Hi Somansh, and thanks for having interest in the project!
First I would recommend getting know with the architecture of oVirt:
http://www.ovirt.org/Architecture

Then you can decide whether contributing to oVirt Engine:
http://www.ovirt.org/OVirt_Engine_Development_Environment

Or to VDSM:

Of course, feel free to ask anything via the mailing lists.

Hi Liam,
You should go to the Storage tab, select the domain and in the "Data Centers"
subtab attach it to the second Data Center.

let me know if that works for you.

wrote:

Hi Doug,
You haven't sated your vdsm/oVirt version so I my answers might be somewhat
generic.
1) once a network configuration (net-conf) is given by the engine, and is
configured by vdsm,
vdsm stores it under /var/run/vdsm/netconf/{nets,bonds}. This is used
as an intermediate
place fro this configuration, and allows the user to verify that his
requested net-conf
indeed serves his goals.
If the worst has happen, and all communication is now broken, and since
this path does
not survive a reboot, it leaves the user with the emergency ultimate
option of rebooting
the host and let it restooe the last knownworking net-conf (see2).
2) once engine calls setSafeNetworkConfig API verb, this info is copied
into /var/lib/vdsm/persistence/netconf/
in an atomic operation. Since this path survives a host reboot, the
host will restore
all networks from that place.
If I am not mistaking, the engine defaults to call this API immediately
after each netwrok
setup (it can be toggled in a checkbox in the UI).

In general, the ultimate knoledge about the required networks sits in the
administrator mind,
and hopefully, in the engine database. So the best options you guys have is
adding the required netwroks
one by one from the engine, and call setSafeNetworkConfig after each
verified successful state.
This will ensure a proper state+backup on your host.

It might be a qemu-kvm issue. Can you check the contents of the file 'sv'

The tweaks should probably take place there, if not deeper into QEMU.

engine-setup supports firewalld, and the code is designed to be
extensible so that we can add support for other firewall managers,
even with an external plugin packaged separately. Never tried this
myself, though.

engine-setup affects only the firewall on the machine running the engine
itself.

Support for the engine, so that it properly populates the firewall on
the hosts, is a different matter. There is [1] to track this for
firewalld.

[ovirt-users] Manually preconfigured network interfaces/bridges on oVirt 3.6 HC HE

2015-11-01 Thread Giuseppe Ragusa
Hi all,
I'm stuck with the following error during the final phase of
ovirt-hosted-engine-setup:

The host hosted_engine_1 is in non-operational state.
Please try to activate it via the engine webadmin UI.

If I login on the engine administration web UI I find the corresponding message
(inside NonOperational first host hosted_engine_1 Events tab):

Host hosted_engine_1 does not comply with the cluster Default networks, the
following networks are missing on host: 'ovirtmgmt'

I'm installing with an oVirt snapshot from October the 27th on a fully-patched
CentOS 7.1 host with a GlusterFS volume (3.7.5 hyperconverged, replica 3, for
the engine-vm) pre-created and network interfaces/bridges (ovirtmgmt and other
two bridges, called nfs and lan, on underlying 802.3ad bonds or plain
interfaces) manually pre-configured in
/etc/sysconfig/network-interfaces/ifcfg-* (using "classic" network service;
NetworkManager disabled).

I seem to recall that a preconfigured network setup on oVirt 3.6 would need
something predefined on the libvirt side too (apart from usual ifcfg-* files),
but I cannot find the relevant mailing list message anymore nor any other
specific documentation.

Does anyone have any further suggestion or clue (code/docs to read)?

Many thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
Giuseppe

Re: [ovirt-users] Ovirt Guest VM network | vnet to id

2015-11-01 Thread Punit Dambiwal
Hi Jiri,

Thanks for the update...actually i want to use collectd to collect the
usages report of the VM's...as the ovirt DWH/Reports tool is not good...so
in the begnning all good with colellctd and graph,as all the VM resides on
the same HV and get the guest interface in the sequence :-

HV1 :- Has 2 VM (A & B) with 1 Nic each means VM A allign with vnet0 and VM
B allign with vnet1
HV2 :- Has 2 VM (C & D) with 1 Nic each means VM C allign with vnet0 and VM
D allign with vnet1

Now in any case when the VM A migrate from HV1 to HV2..VM A Nic will
change with vnet2...i want to remove this behavior,if it's with uuid
instead of vnet ,in any case vm migrate to any HV,the nic name will remain
same...and all the rrd data will also remain the same for graph...

Now if it change to vnet2,in the collectd-web it displays two rrd (vnet0
and vnet2)...is there any way to change it with uuid instead of vnet...

Thanks,
Punit
