[ovirt-users] Re: Ovirt-engine-websocket-proxy

2018-09-25 Thread Joey Ma
Hi Hari,

After adding an extra `ovirt-snapshots` yum repository as described in [1],
the installation might be ok.

[ovirt-users] iSCSI constantly reading from storage (about 8 Mbps) after connecting hosts to storage

2018-09-25 Thread silvio . delval
Hello,
I recently deployed oVirt in some hosts to evaluate it as one of my main
virtualization tool. I like it a lot, but I don't know if this behaviour is
normal: I just configured my iSCSI network against a IBM V7000, and from that
point on, the host with the role "SPM" continuosly is reading from storage at
about 7 or 8 Mbps. I don't know what it i doing, due to no storage domains are
still created. How can I know what it is doing ?

Silvio

Either this or maybe the migration_ovs_hook_enabled can be removed
completely. Your bug will help to track this.

Maybe this did not get enough attention, because the OVS switch type is
just in technology preview state.
For completeness, the reference to the bug to track the relevant change:

Yes, after setting "migration_ovs_hook_enabled = false" it works indeed, thanks.

Shouldn't the upgrade process that care of resetting this option automatically?

Also, after the upgrade no VM can be started before redefining all the network

reboot!) and share vdsm.log from the host.

[ovirt-users] Re: Storage errors - member of pool, inaccessible and could not disconnect

2018-09-25 Thread Roderick Mooi

Hi, I understand we're on an old version and therefore their might
be some reluctance to assist (we are building a new cluster on the
latest Ovirt 4 but I need to maintain this in the meantime and plan
to upgrade once I can host the VMs on the new cluster). So, I found
some related bugs (and fixes) [e.g.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1317699 and duplicates]
but haven't managed to completely resolve this [e.g. tweaking the
engine DB as per
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1351203]. Even if you
point me to the relevant redhat bugs or a previous list conversation
I'd appreciate it. Minor patch(es) to source files I can handle if
necessary...

Perhaps someone can help me with a copy of
https://access.redhat.com/solutions/2423321 (I'm not a redhat
subscriber so cannot access) and it follows from the bug reports
above...

Appreciated,

Roderick

storageServer

and then it updates config, mounts again, rinse, repeat, every
+-minute! (and seems to introduce side effects like engine state
changes, inability to migrate engine VM, hosted engine HA status
changing, etc.)

Extracts from logs attached. The main issues seem to stem from
the ERROR lines 214, 778, 1037, etc. in the vdsm.log...

Everything else seems to be working fine.

Please advise?

Thanks,

Roderick

Changing the DNS on the Network does immediately causes setup-network
commands to be sent to all hosts, after a big warning is shown in web UI.

It is possible to overwrite the DNS per host. This will be reported as
'out-of-sync'. You can explicitly mark the DNS setting of a host as
synchronized to the network.

Maybe I did not get the point here.
Except a scenario of adding a host with FQDN instead of IP address to
host engine, I am not aware of a scenario to make the host unreachable
for engine by changing the DNS on the hosts.

Please note oVirt 3.5 is not supported anymore and is vulnerable to
meltdown and spectre attacks: https://meltdownattack.com/ .
Please upgrade your deployment to 4.2 as soon as practical.

No you can't.
You need to upgrade to 3.6 first, both engine and hosts.
Once you're at 3.6, you can upgrade engine to 4.0 and hosts directly to 4.2.
Then you can upgrade engine to 4.1 and then to 4.2.
