[ovirt-users] Cannot "Change CD" from VM portal with standard user

2023-11-06 Thread Gianluca Amato
Hello,
I am trying to attach a CD to a virtual machine from the VM Portal as a
standard user. When I click on the box for choosing the ISO image, I only get
"[Empty]". However, when I access the VM portal as an admin, I correctly see
the list of ISO images. I suspect it is a problem of permission: I have
assigned to the unprivileged user the UserRole permission both for the VM and
the ISO disk images. Am I doing something wrong ? Do I need to assign different
roles ?

Thanks,

[ovirt-users] Re: Hosted-engine restore failing when migrating to new storage domain

2023-11-06 Thread Devin A. Bougie
Does anyone know how to regenerate /etc/ovirt-hosted-engine/hosted-engine.conf?
Or where exactly I find each field to create the file manually?

After trying to switch from an iscsi storage domain to NFS for the new hosted
engine, I finally have the engine back up and running. However, when trying to
reinstall a host to move it to the new hosted engine domain, I get "Failed to
fetch hosted engine configuration file."

/etc/ovirt-hosted-engine/hosted-engine.conf doesn't exist on the host I ran
"hosted-engine --deploy" on. And on all other hosts, it still references the
old hosted engine VM and storage domain.

Thanks,
Devin

[ovirt-users] Re: How to start QA and testing work in the oVirt project?

2023-11-06 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi, several years ago I tried to kick off a QA team and wrote
https://www.ovirt.org/develop/qa/
I think the best way you can help testing oVirt is either contributing
automated tests in GitHub pipelines or in oVirt System Tests project :
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-system-tests .
As an alternative, you can do manual testing by following steps in
https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/ about installation and usage of the
system and either contribute fixes to the documentation or report things
that are not working as described to the project issue trackers.
