Hi all,

Since we upgraded to the latest ovirt node running 7.2, we're seeing that nodes
become unavailable after a while. It's running fine, with a couple of VM's on
it, untill it becomes non responsive. At that moment it doesn't even respond to
ICMP. It'll come back by itself after a while, but oVirt fences the machine
before that time and restarts VM's elsewhere.

Engine tells me this message:

VDSM host09 command failed: Message timeout which can be caused by
communication issues

Is anyone else experiencing these issues with ixgbe drivers? I'm running on
Intel X540-AT2 cards.

The command should be like this:

  # update nic bond0 --parent-host-name server01 --network-name VLAN602

What I want to say is:

Now I got the message that my network is out-of-sync. How can i force

Because when I press "Sync All Networks" the IP address disappears

But when I check the box "Sync Network" within the VLAN602 options it
gets pushed to the host.

Is there a difference between the both? And how do I run both via
ovirt-shell?

The "sync network" operation is not supported by ovirt-shell.

If you want to set the network configuration, and make it persistent,
then you will need to use one of the "setupNetworks" operations. These
aren't fully usable with ovirt-shell either, so if you want to use it
you will need to use directly the API or one of the SDKs. For example,
lets assume that you have a host with network interfaces eth0, eth1, and
eth2, and that you want to configure eth1 and eth2 as a bond, to put
your VLAN and IP address on top. You can do that with a script like this:

---8<---
#!/bin/sh -ex

url="https://engine.example.com/ovirt-engine/api;<https://engine.example.com/ovirt-engine/api>
user="admin@internal"
password="..."

curl \

If you prefer to use one of the SDKs, the Python SDK for example, then
it should look like this:

---8<---
#!/usr/bin/python

from ovirtsdk.api import API
from ovirtsdk.xml import params

# Connect to the server:
api = API(

url="https://engine.example.com/ovirt-engine/api;<https://engine.example.com/ovirt-engine/api>,

debug=True
)

[ovirt-users] NIC Out of Sync

2016-01-15 Thread Bloemen , Jurriën
Hi all,

I got the following situation:

[cid:part1.05080201.06050205@dmc.amcnetworks.com]

This can easily be fixed via the webinterface but I need to script this via the
ovirt-shell.

I found the following but this does not do the trick:

ovirt-shell # action host twinp108 commitnetconfig

Well it saves the config but the out-of-sync icon remains.

Do I need to set a boolean first or something?
Is there another way of fixing this because all the documentation I found does
not cover this?

[ovirt-users] [ovirt-shell] update hostnic/nic ???

2016-01-14 Thread Bloemen , Jurriën
Hi,

First I created a bonding interface:

# add nic --parent-host-name server01 --name bond0 --network-name VLAN602
--bonding-slaves-host_nic host_nic.name=eno1 --bonding-slaves-host_nic
host_nic.name=eno2

This works great but no IP is set on VLAN602.

Then I'm trying to add an ip address to a network with the following command:

# update hostnic --parent-host-name server01 --network-name VLAN602
--boot_protocol static --ip-address 10.10.10.10 --ip-netmask 255.255.255.0

Hi,

I'm using the iso from:

That is the latest version released. Should I use a nightly build to test this?

Thanks,

The Haswell cpu had a processor feature (hle, TSX-NI) that turned out to
be flaky and Intel disabled this feature with a microcode update.

The cpu's with the updated microcode no longer have the 'hle' feature in
/proc/cpuinfo. oVirt/libvirt does not see the cpu as Haswell as the
required feature is missing.

Upstream libvirt has introduced Haswell-noTSX variants and oVirt will
probably get a new CPU type to match in a future release.

For now I've configured the CPU model as SandyBridge on my Haswell

I filed a bug about this in the oVirt bugzilla:

Thanks for clarifying that!

I had to go down to Intel Nehalem Family to get it working.

distribution than the cluster occupied before.
But there can't be two type of distributions at the same time in one cluster.

Subject: [ovirt-users] Switch from Fedora 20 to CentOS 7.1

Dear all,

Would it be possible to switch from fedora 20 to centos 7.1 (as far as i
understood it has live merge support now) within one cluster, meaning

* take out one compute host
* Reinstall that compute host with Centos 7.1
* Do a hosted-engine —deploy
* Migrate VM to the CentOS 7.1 host
* Take the next fedora host and reinstall

Any experiences, recommendations or remarks on that ?

Regards
Soeren

[ovirt-users] Import KVM images to oVirt 3.5

2015-05-12 Thread Bloemen , Jurriën
Hi,

I was looking into a way to import our KVM VM's/images into oVirt 3.5. Some of
the VM's are Centos and others are Windows 2012. Some suggest to use virt-v2v
but the version that can be used in CentOS 7(.1) does not support the -ic
flag. See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1138504#c8 (Comment 8)
What I understand is that oVirt should solve this or make some kind of image
import tool.

I found engine-image-uploader but that's only for OVF files.

Some other say that you just make a VM in oVirt and copy the original image
over de oVirt image. This works but there is no human error correction in it or
some other validation.

What can I do?

Re: [ovirt-users] Modules sanlock are not configured

2015-03-31 Thread Bloemen , Jurriën
I did that also. I forgot to mention it because you only have to run --force if
you didn’t stop the sanlock process of running.
The result of with and without is the same. Still the vdsmd process cannot
start.

Basically kvm group should be created by qemu rpm installation,
so first check egrep kvm /etc/group - it should return
kvm:x:36:qemu,sanlock if your system is installed properly

egrep kvm /etc/group

No result

If not, please tell me the output of rpm -qa | grep qemu-kvm

[ovirt-users] Modules sanlock are not configured

2015-03-30 Thread Bloemen , Jurriën
Hi all,

I have CentOS 7 running and I added the oVirt 3.5 repo to it. I open the oVirt
Manager and added a new system to it.
The manager says installing and after that is fails to connect. Looking on the
system I see:

Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: vdsm: Running mkdirs
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: vdsm: Running configure_coredump
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: vdsm: Running configure_vdsm_logs
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: vdsm: Running wait_for_network
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: vdsm: Running run_init_hooks
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: vdsm: Running upgraded_version_check
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: vdsm: Running check_is_configured
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: Error:
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: One of the modules is not
configured to work with VDSM.
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: To configure the module use the
following:
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: 'vdsm-tool configure [--module
module-name]'.
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: If all modules are not configured
try to use:
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: 'vdsm-tool configure --force'
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: (The force flag will stop the
module's service and start it
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: afterwards automatically to load
the new configuration.)
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: libvirt is already configured for
vdsm
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: Modules sanlock are not configured
Mar 30 21:09:37 vdsmd_init_common.sh[7106]: vdsm: stopped during execute
check_is_configured task (task returned with error code 1).

So I run vdsm-tool configure after I stop sanlock.

# vdsm-tool configure

Checking configuration status...

libvirt is already configured for vdsm
SUCCESS: ssl configured to true. No conflicts

Running configure...
Reconfiguration of sanlock is done.

Done configuring modules to VDSM.

But when I want to start vdsmd it still gives the error that sanlock is not
configured.

Does somebody has a solution for this?

I am a bit lost on this… Google only tells me that there was a bug in 3.4.

Thanks in advance,

Jurriën
