[ovirt-users] Re: Does Ovirt 4.3.4 have support for NFS 4/4.1/4.2 or pNFS

2019-07-13 Thread Ralf Schenk
Hello,

I used Ovirt with Ganesha and PNFS (on Gluster not managed by OVirt).

I'm now using a Storage based in Linux on ZFS and kernel NFS using NFS
Version 4.2. Thinprovisioning and trim on VM Disk's works fine so that
VM Disk (Sparse Files on NFS) shrink when trimming inside VM. You have
to check "Enable Discard" on VM Disks. Disks are created in a few
seconds as stated.

Bye

We support NFS 4.2 for a while (4.2 or 4.3), but the default is still auto
(typically NFS 3).

Specially version 4.2 due to:

qemu support copy_file_range since RHEL 7.6, but I think it has some issues
and does not perform well, and we don't enable this mode yet.

What work with NFS 4.2 is sparseness and fallocate support, speeding
copy/move/clone/upload of spares disks.

For example creating 100g preallocated image would take less than a second.

It should work and much better.
