just to close off this issue. I found problem. My /etc/exports file had a space in it where it shouldn't have (between * and options). This seemed to acceptable with older versions of centos7.2 but on my newer host with latest centos7.2 (3.10.0-327.13.1.el7.x86_64) it only mounted read-only. ma
