[SOGo] Info required

Hi,

I need a technical white paper of SOGo and its implementation with openchange.
The information in WIKI is not quite sound as how does a client connect to SOGo

role of openchange and SAMBA4 (including LDAP). If i can get a representation

Choose "Settings" from the main menu.
Choose the tab "Password" (probably on the utmost right position).

If you mean outlook, then the access goes always from outlook via MAPI
to openchange (This mapi layer requires samba4)
Openchange then connects to the authentication sources and the different
resources,

this of course then depends on what data stores you have defined.

It should be SOGoPasswordChangeEnabled

[SOGo] openchange and bind which bind version for centos 5 rhel5?

2012-05-16 Thread Hans de Groot

Hello,

I tried the SOGo 2 nighlty build via rpm's for RHEL5 on my Centos 5.8 setup.

yum updated/installed everything without complaints. (I installed it
over my 1.3.14)

I followed the steps from the pdf (SOGo Native Microsoft Outlook
Configuration.pdf

(PDF) For SOGo version 2.0.0rc1)

Sogo is still working, I can see my agenda and adressbook. The mail is
gone but I read somewhere I have to reboot.

That is not my problem.

I need to include some file in my named.conf.

Now I only have a caching nameserver so I havbe a
named.caching-nameserver.conf file.

I added the include lines but when restarting I get this error:

/var/lib/samba4/private/named.conf:11: unknown option 'dlz'
/var/lib/samba4/private/named.conf.update:2: unknown option 'update-policy'

Which makes sense coz I run the stock centos 5 bind (9.3..)

The instruction don't say anything about this.

Do I need a better bind or do I needs special version or plugins?

regards

Hans

[SOGo] I am worried now, can we use openchange from a remote location or not?

Hi list,

I was looking for the port number MAPI is using. so to configure the
firewall. but I found this remark some where:

>>I want to open MAPI for remote users, is it possible to open it in
firewall?

>Technically yes. But you would never, ever do it.
>The way to "open MAPI" for remote users would be to implement Outlook
Anywhere so all you need open is TCP 443.

But I also read this in the SOGo Native Micosoft Outlook Cofiguration.pdf

>The Microsoft “Outlook Anywhere” protocol is currently not supported.

Does this mean that outlook can only be used in a local lan???

Thx

Hi Christian,

I was trying the whole 2.x setup so I could use Outlook from home connecting to my server online
somewhere and so I could use my android mail client (in my case Dataviz Roadsync) to connect to the
openchange server as an exchange server and sync everything this way. When using this with the
exchange server at work it works very good. Using funambol it gives me lots of problems. It's slow
(periodic sync in stead of push) and often I get my contacts double. So I thought if I have my own
exchange compatible server I could do the same. But reading carefully now it it states
"outlook support" everywhere and not "exchange server clone". I guess what I am
looking for a an activesync server. My fault. Should have read better.

Thank you for your time.

There is an activesync implementation on the works, see:

I think flow would be

outlook --> SOGo --> samba --> openchange -->ldap -->SOGo data store.

This i can say as we have to specify the server details of "SOGo server" in
client. But then samba need to be in between to convert "so called windows
language to Unix" and then needs openchange to convert the calls made to pseudo
Exchange (which is SOGo/openchange).

Not very sure as I have tried to figure out from my setup.

It will be great if can some one help on this.

I found "userPasswordAlgorithm" but that only support crypt, md5 and sha. Is
there some reason that ssha is not supported? :)

Do you really have an LDAP server listening on Port 3389 ?

Normally it is listening on Port 389.

Two different use cases here.

1) Outlook from home.
Solution A)
You could also use a VPN connection to your server or LAN.
Over this you could talk MAPI with OpenChange securely.

Solution B)
You can use an ActiveSync implementation for SOGo (see Mail from Peter
Peltonen).
This is a new implementation, so I don't know how stable this is.

2) Android client
Solution A)
Use different protocolls for different data.
IMAP for email
CardDAV for address books
CalDAV for calendars
For this to work you have to install a CardDAV and a CalDAV app (e.g.
found under http://dmfs.org/ )

Solution B)
You can use an ActiveSync implementation for SOGo (see before).

I've seen those problems before with upgrades and in my opinion asking
all users to clear their browser cache after every upgrade should be
avoided.

As far as I understand the problem, the SOGo web resources are cached
by the browser and when a new version is installed the browser has no
way of knowing it has to load the web resources again. One way to fix
this is to put the version somewhere in the path, so that on upgrade
the web resources have a different path and the browser will fetch the
new files.

Is there anyone who has already looked more into this issue? Is there
already an open bug about this that I missed?

I had the same problem with all the emails disappearing in the web
interface. I just rebooted the server and cleared the browser cache and
all was well :)

Indeed...

this is to put the version somewhere in the path, so that on upgrade

We implemented a workaround for this in the post install script so that
the web resources' mtime are updated.

Can you look at the files under /usr/lib/GNUstep/SOGo/WebServerResources
and confirm that the timestamps match the installation time?

Also, if you can reproduce the problem, can you post the apache logs
where apache returns 304 (Not Modified) responses? (which cause the
client to use its cached version)

Thanks.

Here is one of our customers who was not able to view mails after the
upgrade. Hope this helps!

xx.xx.xx.xx - - [16/May/2012:14:06:54 +0200] "GET
/SOGo.woa/WebServerResources/jquery-ui.js HTTP/1.1" 304 229
"https://www.imereos.fr/SOGo/so/xxx...@x.fr/Mail/view";
"Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:10.0.4) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.4
Iceweasel/10.0.4"

After clearing the browser cache, all went well. I had a look to the
mtime timestamp of the files: it was the one of the upgrade.
