That's the issue we're facing in our roll-out of SOGo. We have a few
users who are on Outlook 2013, who don't want to swap to Thunderbird +
SOGo connector. And I really don't want to have to put a full Samba DC
on the mail server, but it is required for OpenChange.

SOGo works well enough as-is with Thunderbird / Android (CardDAV-Sync
and CalDAV-Sync apps) / iPhone / iPad...

For the few hold-outs who refuse to ditch Outlook 2007/2010/2013, we're
probably going to go with a paid connector. Either the Bynari WebDAV
Collaborator plug-in or the SurGATE Outlook DAV client.

I plan to add support for CalDav and CardDav protocols to avoid Funambol
server at all and sync Outlook directly with SOGo (note that I wasn't able
to find any open source CalDav/CardDav connector for Outlook). I hope this
project can help to build truly open source groupware without need of
 proprietary 3rd party modules.

I'm really sorry if this advertisement is inappropriate for this ML.

I for one appreciate it and your efforts, but have some questions...

 1. If you are successful getting full Cal/CardDAV support working, these
will/should work perfectly with older Outlook versions (2010 at least, and
maybe even 2007 or even 2003)?

Yes. API which is used to communicate with Outlook is same for all versions
so same code can handle all Outlooks with very minor modifications.

 2. Will Task syncing be supported?

Yes.

 3. What will be the license?

Original Funambol connector is licensed under AGPLv3 and I don't plan to
change it.

 4. What are these 'Outlook Redemption libraries' - which are non-free,
commercially licensed - that are required for installation, why are they
needed, and will they always be needed?

I plan to get rid of Redemption libraries but not in near future. They are
used to bypass Microsoft Outlook security patch which prevents connector to
work fine without user input (you will have to confirm that other app wants
to modify your calendar etc...)

Thanks again, and please do post updates on your progress occasionally.

Or, maybe more appropriate, open a bug/enhancement, and post updates
there, so users can subscribe to it to monitor the progress?

 Thanks again,

 - SOGo built-in ActiveSync for Android and iOS devices
 - IMAP/CalDav/CardDav for Thunderbird and alike clients

Am I missing something? Why use Funambol or GetOut? Is there a reason to
get some +funccionality or is that just an alternative to the above?

My understanding (could be wrong) is GetOut would obviate the need for
both Funambol AND Openchange for Outlook 2013...

Openchange is a huge layer of complexity that is not needed if you don't
need to run a full Samba DC..

GetOut needs only Funambol, not Samba DC or openchange. And when
CalDav/CardDav support gets ready, it will be able to connect directly to
SOGo without Funambol/Samba/Openchange...

Is this a known issue with some workaround or without harm anyway?

[SOGo] Copy outlook contacts

2014-04-01 Thread Fabio Onorini
Hi sogo users,
in a testing enviroment I configured Outlook 2013 with a SOGo account (with
EAS) and a Exchange account (on Microsoft Exchange 2013).

Using outlook client with drag and drop, I copied some contacts from
exchange to sogo.

After this operation in sogo database contacts are duplicate.
If I copy 2 contacts, I found 4 contacts, if copy 3 contacts I found 9
contacts.

I think that can be Outlook problem, but I'm not sure.
