Okay I thought, let's do it the official way Basically there is no way to get it installed still. Why are you trying to compile parts of the package on your own? I've installed everything with apt-get from the inverse repo, and I have no problems with dependencies or anything. If you want to compile stuff on your own that other ubuntu packages depend on, the only way to make that work is to build your own packages. -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen Sven Tegethoff EDV-Team _ UDO BÄR GmbH Co. The nice folks at inverse have upated their packages to sama 4.0.1 and openchange 2.0 - and the good news is that quite a few bugs seem to have been fixed. The bad news is, all that means in my test case is that it takes a few seconds longer to crash, and it now does so in a different context :) I completely removed the profiles and re-added the user (both server and client side) but samba still goes belly up whenever I even get close to anything calendar or contact related in Outlook. If you want Outlook to be able to connect to SoGo (or Exchange, for that matter) through a firewall, you will have to tell Outlook to tunnel all its communications through HTTP. So, open your email account settings (Control Panel - E-Mail - E-Mail Accounts). Then select your email account, and click Change. Click on More Settings. From the Connection tab, und “Outlook Anywhere” enable Connect to Micrsofot Exchange using HTTP. It means that you've got a glitch in your kerberos configuration which results in samba4 being unable to update your DNS via GSSAPI, which requires kerberos for authentication. Try running kinit on the command line, and see if you can get a kerberos ticket. Then try running samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names to get a more detailed output and see if you can get it to work manually. -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen Sven Tegethoff EDV-Team _ UDO BÄR GmbH Co. [SOGo] Outlook 2010 Debugging - Any pointers?
Hi everyone! I've been able to solve my last problem, but I'm still stuck getting Outlook 2010 to work with Sogo/OpenChange/Samba4. Outlook fails to read my mailbox - and gives me a very generic error message. From looking at the logs, I can see that authentication works, that the login to imap works, and I see quite a bit of activity on the imap server - but then, outlook dislikes something, and fails with the old Outlook Window could not be started, a client process failed message. No apparent error messages anywhere in the logs, though. Now my biggest problem is that I'm running out of ideas how to debug this situation. Any recommendations? -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen Sven Tegethoff EDV-Team _ UDO BÄR GmbH Co. [SOGo] Sogo fails to get mails via IMAP through OpenChange connector
Hi everyone! I'm stuck within a test-installation. I'm trying to configure SoGo as Exchange server. Authentication works against an existing Domain Controller. I've joined Samba4 to the domain successfully. Kerberos works. I've provisioned openchange, and created a user with openchange_newuser --create tegethoff. That's identical to my AD username, and my IMAP username. I can login through the webinterface fine, and sogo fetches my mails from the IMAP server. When trying to get my mails through outlook, outlook authenticates fine, but then tells me it can't get my mailbox. Looking at the samba log, I get: Nov 07 11:36:54 samba [18404]: [ERROR] 0x0x2f86940[NGImap4ConnectionManager] IMAP4 login failed: host=pluto.baerkatalog.de, user=tegethoff, pwd=yes url=imap://tegeth...@pluto.baerkatalog.de/ base=(null) base-class=(null)) = 0x0x2928b00[NGImap4Client]: login=tegethoff(pwd) socket=NGActiveSocket[0x0x4306860]: mode=rw address=0x0x4306b30[NGInternetSocketAdd ress]: host=sogo.baerkatalog.de port=36426 connectedTo=0x0x2928cf0[NGInternetSocketAddress]: host=pluto.baerkatalog.de port=143 2012-11-07 11:36:54.841 samba[18404] Note(NGImap4Connection): using '/' as the IMAP4 folder separator. So I tried debugging if there's anything going wrong with authentication against the IMAP server, however neither the IMAP server logs, nor tcpdump show any attempts of anything even trying to contact the imap server. It seems to fail before anything gets sent over the network. I double checkdd by connecting through the web interface, and I see all the expected log activity. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen Sven Tegethoff EDV-Team _ UDO BÄR GmbH Co. Re: [SOGo] Outlook Integration / Active Directory
On 10.10.2012 16:30, Wolfgang Sourdeau wrote: I do understand the part with the Exchange schema, and installing the demo is a nice trick. However mirror domain controller is not a term I'm familiar with, and it doesn't exist in the samba4 documentation either :) So, I'm sorry if that's a dumb question, but what exactly are you referring to? No, that term is my own invention. In previous versions of Windows (NT) servers, you had the concept of Primary and Backup domain controllers (PDC, BDC). With versions = 2003 (I think, it could even be 2000), since MS started to use an ldap implementation named active directory, the role of what used to be a BDC no longer exists. So you can only have one or many domain controllers. In fact, you will always have a master, since this is the one you will likely reference when using its ip, but basically, all domain controllers handling the same domain will be replicas, hence my naming of mirror. Because here, the goal is that the domain controller handled on the OpenChange machine should not be modified locally. Aha! So do I understand this correctly: Although the documentation that joining Samba 4 to your Active Directory domain as a member will currently not work, the actual process of joining the domain with samba4 as another DC actually DOES work, but will break if you use any of the samba tools to actually manager users, but I'll be fine as long as all changes in the directory happen exclusively through the replication with the existing domain? That would be okay ... in fact that's how I was planning to do it anyways :) I'd love to set up samba4 as read-only domain controller - something that samba claims to partially support, but the last documentation update seems to be from 2010, and I'm not quite sure how usable that feature has become by now. One document says it's in its very infancy, but another document lists all except one to do item as finished. Not quite sure what to make of that. Has anybody here ever tried it? best regards, Sven -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

An authentication bug is present in Samba 4 which then prevents all Outlook users to successfully authenticate through Samba 4. This issue has been reported to the Samba team and is being worked on. Is that still the case, or does anybody have a link (eg. to a samba4 bugzilla entry) where I can get up to date information? At the moment, this is pretty much a showstopper for me, unless someone has come up with a method of externally synching the samba4 directory with an existing domain controller... :( We are still working on that issue on our side. It seems the use of Samba as a mirror domain controller is working though. First you need to make sure the Exchange schema is installed on the master machine. You can do that by installing and uninstall Exchange demo. After that, the provisioning scripts from openchange should work fine. I do understand the part with the Exchange schema, and installing the demo is a nice trick. On 08.10.2012 14:06, Igor Vitorac wrote: defaults write sogod SOGoCalendarDefaultRoles '(PublicDAndTViewer,ConfidentialDAndTViewer,PrivateDAndTViewer)' This solved it! Excellent :) I didn't know you could set default policies, and it's impossible to log in as the resource itself, since windows refuses to authenticate against my rather minimalistic CalenderResource object. Thanks for the hint, that was exactly what I needed. So, I have now a fairly complete set of step-by-step instructions how to put CalendarResources into an Active Directory without going insane, including schema extension LDIF files and stuff. It took me about a week to figure it all out, and google couldn't find anybody who has done this before. So I have a feeling it might be knowledge worth sharing. But what's the best way? Should I simplay post them here for future reference, or is there a better way? Best regards, Sven -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists
