Well, Actually tomcat comes configured on port 8080. You just need to start it and make sure you dont have any firewall in your server blocking this port. Thats it. Best! Re: Hi Guys ... can some one tell what is hashcode in java
HashCode is a value computed in such way to be unique as possible to improve performance while retrieving object in HashedCollections. If for example you have a HashMap, and didn't overrride hashCode() method all your objects will be in the same bucket resulting a slow execution while retrieving an object. But if you do provide an efficient implementation of hashCode() method your objects will be stored across many buckets and you look up for one of them, the api does calculate the hashCode of your object and then it selects the right bucket. After that we go through the bucket to find the needed object. Regarding thread hi-jacking
Dear all tomcat mailing list dev and users I apologize for accidentally hi-jacking a user email by using reply button. I did not realize that it is not allowed. So, please forgive me. I did that just out of convinience and I think I replaced the subject as well. I learn new rule today. Please be patient with me and I will submit my question again using new thread. Thanks Rendra

Sounds like your code might have a memory leak. The best thing todo is to profile the application and see where all the memory is being used. HI, follow the steps 1) First of all install j2sdk1.5 or higher version. 2) check whether jre1.5.x is installed in the same folder of j2sdk folder. 3) then install tomcat5.5 as you wish, while installing it will check the path of your jre1.5.x folder,if not set the path. The first thing I'd do in this situation is SIGQUIT tomcat to get a stackdump of the running threads. With that you can usually determine the changes you need to do to your servlets, if required. If the stackdump isn't a help I'd attach a profiler to see where your servlets are spending the time. I like the one bundled with netbeans. I'm sure others on the list have their own favourites. Yes. It declares that the List is going to hold integers. hi all thanks for the reply; things getting a litter clear. when i remove the jar file 'antlr-2.7.5H3.jar' , it work fine, put 0 in and get 0 out. but when i put the jar file back, it still put 0 in and get 1 out. the jar is in the \tomcat\webapps\'myproject'\WEB-INF\lib\ it seems like the there is something wrong in the jar file.this jar is shipped with hibernate. And i try the newest jar file from the newest hiberbate, but it is still has the same problem. does anyone has a idea? the test code in a jsp file in my project: java.util.List alist =new java.util.ArrayListInteger(); alist.add(0); out.print(alist.get(0)); Regards On 5/22/07, Christopher Schultz [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Felix, Felix Schumacher wrote: Am Montag, den 21.05.2007, 13:54 +0800 schrieb Peter: hi all, I have come into a very wired problem. here it is. my project using JBuilder 2006 and tomcat 5.5.20. when i put a 0 into a list and get 1 as a result. simple code for testing! The problem persists despite the fact that the Apache Tomcat service is running. Attached are the contents of my log files that have sizes greater than zero (0) kb. It seems port number 80 is in use. How do I assign another port number to Tomcat 5.5? in server.xml look for this line: Connector port=80 maxHttpHeaderSize=8192 maxThreads=150 minSpareThreads=25 maxSpareThreads=75 enableLookups=false redirectPort=8443 acceptCount=100 connectionTimeout=2 disableUploadTimeout=true/ and change port then point to the tomcat start page via your browser using: localhost:port (eg localhost:8123) adeyemi adesina wrote: The problem persists despite the fact that the Apache Tomcat service is running.
