Yes the default extensions that come with XE are hard dependencies of
XE so not easy to uninstall alone. I also agree that there is too much
stuff by default, we plan to work on a more minimalistic base with
various flavors.

panel
Note that 6.3 will introduce a way to configure a bit the applications
panel and in your case hide the blog entry in there.
