[xwiki-users] Rights Question
We need to give groups rights to view only specific documents within spaces. Not all documents in the space, and far less documents than total documents in the space. It appears to me that documents receive, by default, the permissions of the space. It also appears that the user needs at least view permissions on the space to view documents they have permissions to. So, here is the question: 1. Can I set the default page permissions for a space to be different from the space permissions (eg - allow all users permission to view the space, but new documents in that space would not have that right)? (This is the preferable option) 2. Can I use a velocity script to generate a list of documents the group has access to? -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/Rights-Question-tp7595210.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ users mailing list users@xwiki.org http://lists.xwiki.org/mailman/listinfo/users
[xwiki-users] Auto away issue (was Re: Upgrade error from 6.4.2 to last version)
Hi Stephane, On a not-related note, could you please make sure to not send auto-away emails when you’re on holidays, as otherwise when someone send a mail to the list we get an auto away notification from you. I don’t remember if I unsubscribed you from the list at some point but if it continues to happen, we might need to do that. See http://xwiki.markmail.org/search/?q=lassire to see what I mean. It didn’t happen since February though so maybe you’ve already taken measures in which case, please disregard my mail :) I’ll let others answer to your question since I don’t use the Debian packaging and I don’t know anything about it. [xwiki-users] Installation stall and cleanup
I am trying to install xwiki 5.4.4 on a server 2012 system. I initially installed 6.4 and realized I couldn't jump to that version from my current and uninstalled it and attempted to install the 5.4.4. When the installer completed, instead of getting a "finished" button I got another "next". If I click next, it does nothing and the only option is to "quit". The files had been created in program files but there were no desktop icons and none in any of the app data profiles on the sytem. When double-clicking the start bat file the command line interface blinks in and is gone...nothing else and no xwiki running. I have deleted the files and tried a couple of other builds (5.2 and 5.0) and both exhibit the same behavior. I think maybe some registry settings left from the 6.4 could be the issue or am I over thinking it. Is there a cleanup that can be run just to make sure any old files/settings are gone? Re: [xwiki-users] [xwiki-devs] The future of the Spaces macro in the context of Nested Spaces/Documents

When this parameter is not specified the macro will > list the top level nodes. If you want to go to the nested spaces structure you would need to enter the wanted spaces in order to see it's children. My main problem with this approach is that this works when we have dedicated WebHomes, like until now. With Nested Documents, the document will not be hubs anymore (listing children and activity), but they could be content documents where the spaces macro has no point in being displayed. Another usage of this macro was when importing the Dashboard inside a space and it listed the 'Documents in space X' + Activity Stream. This view mode was an alternative in providing a livetable. The main advantage of this macro was the ability to create spaces. Not sure how many users created spaces this way or accessed the Administration and Document Index shortcuts. So let's say we don't need to have actions and create and we will use the macro just for navigation. > > (2) Display the tree hierarchy on the wiki home page, using > http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Document+Tree+Macro > .Of course, the tree will be lazy loaded, and only the top level nodes > are displayed initially. You can browse easy the structure. I see the Document Tree Macro as a more modern version of the Spaces Macro, so I am ok to deprecate it. (We need to make sure what we do with Tags Application and Information Tab in docextra, since we could make some changes also there). My comment regarding the document tree is would it be useful inside the content. Since we will not have WebHomes anymore we will have less demand for spaces dashboards. There was an older idea of creating a left panels switch for appbar and hierarchical navigation, see http://design.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Proposal/AppBar#HFunctionalityExtensibility This would imply moving the Spaces Functionality from content to panels. Conclusion: - With nested documents there will be a less demand for WebHomes dashboard since they will be replaced with content. - Modifying Spaces Macro with a parent parameter is not the only change this macro will need, since we would need to also normalize the 'Administration', 'Document Index', 'Create' actions; - We will still have the wikis dashboards that can list hierarchy, activity, members; - We could display Document Tree in the content as a replacement for Spaces Macro, or we could make the panels more easily configurable / switchable between 'AppBar'/'Hierarchy'/'Custom Content'.
