[xwiki-users] Need some Help Explanations

2012-03-09 Thread Ken Jennings
Hello

I am a new user of X-Wiki Cloud.

I am trying to use it to develop a Knowledge base for our Project. I chose
to use X-Wiki Cloud because it appeared to be the WIKI tool that had the
best set of Big Time Capabilities and because it was Extensible and would
work with many different architectures. It seemed to offer the most
flexibility for the long haul.

To date I have opened a free account and started to post some content
links. However; I am having a VERY difficult time understanding how
I organize manage Spaces, Pages General Content. I am particularly
frustrated in that, I cannot seem to find a way to manage the headings or
titles (SPACES) that appear on our Dashboard. X-Wiki Cloud starts one out
with things like Annotation Code, AppWithinMInutes,
ApplicationSecurityBackgroundInformation, Blog, . I do not need to see
those Tool Boxes, nor do I want my partner to see them as he learns how to
use the X-Wiki Cloud tool.

Right now I am struggling as I try to manage it and 'Dumb it Down' so I can
start out learning it using it to build a relatively simple Knowledge
Base.

Can anyone help me with this?

[xwiki-users] [myxwiki] new wiki request

2012-02-29 Thread Ken McWilliams
I forgot my user name on the last request.

User name: quaternion
Email address (if it matters): ken dot mcwilliams at gmail dot com

Requested wiki name:
struts2.myxwiki.com or if that is not good for some reason...
struts2adventures.myxwiki.com

Reason:
I would like to build a struts2 information wiki.
struts.apache.org/ is an excellent resource for struts2 users, I would
like to focus on the verticals of a struts2 web application (That is
the use cases of persisting data, basic ajax interactions using
Struts2/Spring/JPA).

[xwiki-users] Error number 4001 in 4: Error while parsing velocity page

2010-10-29 Thread Ken McWilliams
I have a new XWiki installation on Windows XP, Glassfish 3.0.1 Xwiki
version xwiki-enterprise-web-2.5.war, MySQL 5.1.35

The Issue:
I have a new empty wiki... on the page :
http://IPADDR:8080/xwiki/bin/import/XWiki/XWikiPreferences

Which says : Your wiki seems empty. You may want to import the default
XWiki Enterprise wiki which...

So in the dialogue box I browse to a downloaded backup of the wiki in a
xar file and try to import it but it returns back to the main screen as
if nothing happened (it does seem to upload but it is not listed as an
Available package after this. So I then try to default set of pages at
http://maven.xwiki.org/releases/com/xpn/xwiki/products/xwiki-enterprise-wiki/2.5/xwiki-enterprise-wiki-2.5.xar
and this does not work either.

I've set up Xwiki successfully before (although the other installation
was on linux) and it went without issue.

As a clue I was getting this error first:
Error number 4001 in 4: Error while parsing velocity
page /templates/importinline.vm Wrapped Exception: Failed to evaluate
content with id [/templates/importinline.vm]

I noticed that I needed to start up the windows Glassfish service
manually... So I changed the user to be the Administrator account (Under
options for the Windows Glassfish Service) and then the template error
went away... Go figure... anyways the above error prevented the file
upload dialogue from even appearing but now... there is this issue.

Any suggestions? Other than not using Windows ;) because I tried that
suggestion already.

Sorry I left Error number 4001 in 4: Error while parsing velocity
page... This is NOT the current issue. The current issue is the upload
for XAR does not add it to the available packages.

[xwiki-users] XWiki 0.9.840 to 1.8.1 migration via Export/Import

2009-04-22 Thread Ken Teague
I'm following the Export/Import procedure defined at
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Installation_ExportImport09.

Two problems:

1. Make a new folder inside your skins folder called expimp and copy

The page is missing attachments.

2. Add the Export/Import utility to your v0.9 wiki (see also xwiki.js

I removed line 393 which contained #end and it resolved this problem.
The page now displays but renders oddly.

I think I've completed all of the instructions. However, when I go to

Where is it exporting the data to?

[xwiki-users] new install, 404 error

2009-04-16 Thread Ken Teague
CentOS 5.3
Tomcat 5.5.23
PostgreSQL 8.1.11
Xwiki 1.8.1

I installed Xwiki 1.8.1 from the WAR file but get a 404 error when I
browse to http://host:8080/xwiki. Rather than detailing the procedure
here, I posted it to http://rafb.net/p/FhUlVP37.html for (hopefully)
easier reading.

I did confirm that Tomcat is listening on port 8080 and I get its
default page when I browse to http://host:8080/. For the time being,
I've disabled SELinux and iptables for testing.

I followed the instructions for the installation of Tomcat and
PostgreSQL that is detailed on the xwiki.org web site.

[xwiki-users] Continuation of numbered list after code

2009-01-27 Thread Ken Teague
I'm attempting to embed some {code} within a number list using the
following syntax:

1. Subject
11. Step 1
{code}
my code here...
{code}
11. Step 2
11. Step 3
11. Step 4

and trying to get it to show like this:

1. Subject
  1. Step 1
   my code here
  2. Step 2
  3. Step 3
  4. Step 4

but it's coming out like this:

1. Subject
  1. Step 1
my code here
  1. Step 2
  2. Step 3
  3. Step 4

I have two issues.
First, it's re-numbering my number list after the code, starting at
number 1 again, but I need it to continue the number list.

Second, it's not indenting my code.

How can I fix these? Thanks in advance.

Fair enough. I said the same thing (ouch) when I checked my current
version to what's available now.

I can look at upgrading when time permits, but, until then, can I ask
someone with the latest version to try and get a list continuation after
code is inserted in the middle of the list? I'd like to see if that
will solve my problem before I push for an upgrade. Thanks in advance.
